Club offered him a bad contract, which wasn't commensurate to what he'd achieved on loan, didn't give him an opportunity and the contract offer indicated that they wouldn't do so.
So basically he was rated higher elsewhere than he was here so went elsewhere - it wasn't to do with egos or agents, he just needed to go where he was wanted

Thanks for the clarification Joe.
Do you think KM could have done anything with him?

His career to date suggests our judgement was right, and Huddersfield were wrong.
I can't say I blame him for taking a decent contract though.
I think we knew he was a raw, rugby player still learning the game. Huddersfield probably saw more potential than there was, based on a lower league loan spell.

Got offered a pro contract at Leicester Tigers, Bath were also interested.
Shows you can earn more in the lower leagues of Professional Football compared with the top tier of Rugby.

The opinion of some who worked with him was that he probably wasn't going to be good enough to make it here, and that was at the level we were a couple of years ago, so perhaps ultimately the right move for all concerned at the time. Good chance for him at Col U for the rest of the season.

Hopefully Simpson finds what he’s lost since the Swindon loan. He’s coming up to 23 so it’s now or never.
I didn’t realise Teddy Bishop was at Colchester. He was a player who I thought would have a better career than he has. I think injuries and the state of the club for the majority of his time didn’t exactly help. He’s still only 28.

Probably still be an upgrade on what we have
Indeed.
We have a big burly striker knocking on the door of England honours. But a guy who had a decet loan spell for half a season in Swindon would be an upgrade.

How very silly of you to pick Delap as the striker I was referring to.

Bishop has only just started playing regularly in the last couple of months, after injury up till about Christmas. Rumoured to have preferred Colchester to Charlton in the summer, - presumably for geographical reasons.
Simpson will know a lot of the Colchester team already, - Bishop plus three he played with at Swindon.

I had no idea Teddy Bishop was at Colchester, what a shame his career dropped off!
Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
