Rumoured to be having a medical at West Brom today. Does that mean we’ve got somebody lined up?

Despite seeing how much he’s struggled, would be a huge gamble going into the final part of the season with just Delap and Hirst as our strikers.

He's been recalled by Spurs because he can't get a game with Oxford.

He has played 20 times for Oxford this season, but only 7 of those have been starts & Oxford have signed another striker so Spurs clearly see him getting limited game time. No way is he coming to Town this month.

No, I agree, I didn't mean he was coming here, just that he's not set the world alight at Oxford.

Is his first point harsh?

He hasn't improved in a year. Yes, it's a far higher level - but I can't see anything from him to suggest he's improved. And the best judge of all is Mr. McKenna. He wants to replace our best asset, Delap, after 60-70 minutes..... but is getting increasingly more distrustful of AAH and prefers to flog Delap longer and longer so that he can stick AAH on for only 5-10 minutes.

He was a punt ( and a relatively cheap one) so let's all move on.

Grown more distrustful? Sounds like unnecessary negative spin to me. The points in which Ali got game time where when we had no other options. KM's opinion on Ali probably hasn't changed in the slightest. He's been destined to be out on loan since we got promoted. No need to be a dick about it.

Personally reckon KM has seen enough (for now) to consider A.N.Other as a better option up top for when Delap comes off.
If not Hirst then Chaplin or Broadhead etc. because be honest, they are a better option

“ least all his countrymen ’fans’ will all naff off!”

That’s the oddest of odd takes.

Only in respect of all the comments on official fb posts and YouTube where they accuse the club and McKenna of being racist and that he is the best player at the club and they hope we go down etc etc…

It gets a bit tiresome and I won’t miss it, I really want him to do well but I’m sorry he isn’t better than Hirst or Delap no matter what his supporters say

Interesting if true. That’ll mean that both McKenna and Mowbray, in TMs case managing a top half Championship side, see something in AAH along with at least one other club looking to sign him a year ago.

I guess they don’t see him as a carthorse or ‘sht’. But what do they know eh?

As it goes, if it comes off it’ll be a good move for Ali and at a higher level than I thought he might get a loan move to. I hope he gets to play regularly, if his fitness/injury allows, and shows the potential that interested more than just ourselves last year.

I'm sure they're confident of getting someone else is, perhaps not precisely who yet. Last year Ladapo was allowed to move at this point without a replacement having been firmed up.

Charlton Confirm Ladapo Loan Move 19th Jan 2024 18:34
League One Charlton Athletic have confirmed the loan signing of Blues striker Freddie Ladapo. 62

I'm sure they were confident of a third striker in August but still refused to let Al-Hamadi go.

I think last year, McKenna preferred to play Broadhead up top rather than Ladapo in the event of injuries. That may now be the case with Al-Hamadi in that Szmodics or Broadhead (who was injured in August) are options if a third striker isn't secured.

It's been needs must to involve him at all, the lad clearly needs sustained minutes at Championship level and good luck to him. Some of the focus on him over the last couple of weeks has been a little unseemly.

My point was why didn't he move in August when we were in the same situation (2 strikers and looking to sign a 3rd)

I'm speculating McKenna's opinion on Al-Hamadi playing in the Premier League has deteriorated now he has seen the evidence.

Absolutely no doubt about that Ali needs development time, and shouldn't really be playing for us at this point, but that hasn't changed since summer, the intention was always for him to go on loan. Just don't think the portrayal of losing trust in him is a fair one.

Think we have reached a similar position with Al-Hamadi as with Ladapo last season. When Delap wasn't available, Szmodics started. Al-Hamadi would have gone in the summer if Broja had signed, was off to Derby, but obviously that didn' happen and we didn't find anyone else.

An interesting position for Town to be in. In theory they have three strikers. Delap, Hirst and Szmodics. To get better than Hirst or Szmodics would cost £30-£40 million and bearing in mind that the season is on a knife edge there's no way we will be spending that sort of money especially when I don't see it as much a priority as midfield. Basically we only have two players good enough and they are Cajuste and Morsy who isn't getting any younger and it's debatable he is now mobile enough for the Premier league. Phillips just hasn't cut the mustard and neither has Taylor and Luongo is the same as Morsy, not mobile enough.

Seems like someone doesn't like the truth. I would like to know how any fan see's Phillips as being a player we would snap up if offered. For a guy that was bought by City from Leeds, played International games for England he is now nowhere near that level now. I don't mind Taylor but he's had plenty of chances and can't nail down a place. Loungo whilst he was an inspired addition to the squad and certainly helped to get us where we are if he wasn't good enough for Borough why should he be considered good enough in a higher division and like Morsy isn't getting any younger and neither are as mobile as a lot of the young guns plying their trade in the Premier League. None of my comments mean that I am not eternally grateful to these players. But just as Freddie Ladapo and AAH are seen as not being good enough neither are three of our five midfielders and out of the two remaining only Cajuste could be classed as being with us long term.

Cajuste is on loan so unless we sign him permanently then he’s not exactly long term either.

I am. Has she commented? Has Mrs Al-Hamedi called you out? Hunted you down? No, but I bet there are ‘wanted’ pictures of you with a reward all over Ali’s home town.

I wouldn’t take your holidays there if I were you….

Yes, while Phillips hasn't been hopeless, he hasn't got back up to his level of 2-3 years ago. He still has another 3 years left on his City contract & I'm wondering what they will do with him. He's not going to get into their squad & unless his performances for town pick up, it's hard to see another PL club wanting to pay a proportion of his wages next season, unless Leeds think a return might light a spark.

The two choices are Iraq or Liverpool, both equal shtholes. Think I’ll give them a swerve.

I think we are all been incredibly polite...

He had to be the worst player to play for Town bar the lad who fell over the corner flag.

Good luck at WBA mate.

Bringing Ladapo on for 10 mins at the end this season would have been a better switch, as least Ladapo could run and get about.
