Honestly mental how quickly people are turning on the team and McKenna 21:44 - Feb 1 with 9053 views | NedPlimpton | Although I suppose we've seen it every January for the last 3 years now. I thought given were we've come from, that people might have more realistic expectations and that McKenna might have some credit in the bank but apparently not

For what it’s worth, I think the fact it’s taken this long for some genuine frustration to come out is a testament to how patient we’ve been this season.

This site is full of absolute morons. I hope if anyone from the club reads it they realise that the morons shout loudest. Some of us are disappointed but calm, knowing that we're still on the correct path overall. Feel free to identify yourself as a moron by downarrowing me.

No one is celebrating mate What were people expecting transfer wise? Genuinely? We've spent a lot, but you need to in order to have any chance of staying in this league. But we don't have the same pulling power or ability to spend as 17 other sides in the league do Not fussed by McKenna's wage. I was fully on board for giving him whatever he wanted to keep him here as I'm sure 99% of fans were at the time
Honestly mental how quickly people are turning on the team and McKenna on 21:56 - Feb 1 with 4545 views | ITFC_84 | This fan based have unequivocally based McKenna, Ashton and this team over the past 2 1/2 years - non stop. Merchandise, ticket sales, away support etc have all gone through the roof. However, putting in that performance today, against a team singing ‘how crap must you be, we’re winning away’ is really really really poor. We, as fans, have every right to call it for what it is tonight - a sh1t show from players and McKenna. They’re big boys, I’m sure they can take it.. [Post edited 1 Feb 21:59]

What has McKenna's wage got to do with anything? We were League 1 two years ago. Get some perspective.

Expecting - nothing. Hoping - a mix bag of quality PL experience, physically strong, a striker, potential to step up from championship. But we’ve failed, rather badly IMO

Why do people keep on with this ridiculous “we’ve spent £120/150M” with the implied conclusion that this should suddenly and easily make us a competitive in this league. That is a fraction compared to what every other team in this league has spent in the last 10years.

He’s been given a huge wage to keep him here, to give us a chance of staying up. That’s what it matters. And currently, we sit where we do

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to question what return we’re getting on that investment though, I thought keeping McKenna was the only hope of staying up but so far I couldn’t hand on heart say that no one else would be doing better for a lot lot less money.

Keeping KM was said to be worth 10points alone, by many postered on here. I love KM. but I dont see what his impact is having this season.

This is a more balanced take. It's all really about the longer term strategy. Could £6m a year get a manager that is more likely to keep us in the PL - yes, I think so Is there a manager better equipped to get us back up than McKenna if we go down - no I don't think so. However the worst case scenario here is we stay loyal to him - let him take us down, and then he leaves anyway.

Honestly mental how quickly people are turning on the team and McKenna on 22:20 - Feb 1 with 3826 views | BLUEBEAT | I doubt many of the longtermers who have seen our meteoric rise from League 1 to current heady heights after way too many seasons under awful ownership and Championship languidity were on the boo train, just the newer bandwagon jumpers. That said, I didn’t clap today. Just a harumph and a slow exit from the ground.

Honestly mental how quickly people are turning on the team and McKenna on 22:20 - Feb 1 with 3823 views | pointofblue | Surely even the most supportive can understand why there's frustration after today, and questioning the approach the club has taken. Southampton are one of the worst teams to grace the Premier League since it's inception. They've only got nine points on the board and nearly half came against Town. It's not saying McKenna out, or rip everything apart and start again. More annoyance that the money spent hasn't really had the desired affect, and questioning why. We wouldn't have expected to beat most teams this season. But the one on six points, languishing at the bottom, suffering defeat after defeat? Would have been nice.

Context, though. We were the better team for 90 minutes and they mugged us, scoring with their only 2 decent attempts. These things happen. Yeah it's annoying, but these things happen.

I don’t think they mugged us. First half we were by far the better team, second half we didn’t really lay a finger on them. They put in a good away performance. I think it’s reasonable for people to expect us to try and get something from these sort of games - see also Everton and Palace. We were just so flat second half and the subs did nothing to change that - in fact they made us worse.
