I don’t think people have ‘turned’ on McKenna at all, losing to that shower is always going to put a magnifying glass on things and draw criticism, I think 99% of what people have said is fine.

This fan based have unequivocally based McKenna, Ashton and this team over the past 2 1/2 years - non stop. Merchandise, ticket sales, away support etc have all gone through the roof. However, putting in that performance today, against a team singing ‘how crap must you be, we’re winning away’ is really really really poor.
We, as fans, have every right to call it for what it is tonight - a sh1t show from players and McKenna. They’re big boys, I’m sure they can take it.. [Post edited 1 Feb 21:59]

This is a more balanced take. It's all really about the longer term strategy.
Could £6m a year get a manager that is more likely to keep us in the PL - yes, I think so
Is there a manager better equipped to get us back up than McKenna if we go down - no I don't think so.
However the worst case scenario here is we stay loyal to him - let him take us down, and then he leaves anyway. | |

Surely even the most supportive can understand why there's frustration after today, and questioning the approach the club has taken. Southampton are one of the worst teams to grace the Premier League since it's inception. They've only got nine points on the board and nearly half came against Town.
It's not saying McKenna out, or rip everything apart and start again. More annoyance that the money spent hasn't really had the desired affect, and questioning why. We wouldn't have expected to beat most teams this season. But the one on six points, languishing at the bottom, suffering defeat after defeat? Would have been nice. | |

I don’t think they mugged us. First half we were by far the better team, second half we didn’t really lay a finger on them. They put in a good away performance. I think it’s reasonable for people to expect us to try and get something from these sort of games - see also Everton and Palace. We were just so flat second half and the subs did nothing to change that - in fact they made us worse. |  |
