Honestly mental how quickly people are turning on the team and McKenna 21:44 - Feb 1 with 9059 viewsNedPlimpton

Although I suppose we've seen it every January for the last 3 years now.

I thought given were we've come from, that people might have more realistic expectations and that McKenna might have some credit in the bank but apparently not

eh?

Because he's a fantastic young manager.

Why do you think they did? Who do you think would've done a better job in these last 2 years?

I think they realised he’s an excellent manager, who would improve players and help us get points where we shouldn’t.

Today we’ve lost to a terrible Soton team. 50% (nearly) of their points this season have come against us.

McKenna & that group of players that dragged us through the divisions will also hold a special place in the clubs history, and in the hearts of the fans.

I would also add McKenna is untouchable in my personal opinion.

However, I think you can make some observations though, and they might be negative, but isn’t that to be expected.

We aren’t 19th with 3 wins in February, just lost to a very very poor bottom side because we’ve got everything right - there have clearly been some things we haven’t got right.

We can discuss them, we can debate them, hopefully we can learn from them - without it being categorised as ‘turning’ on anyone.

Who said easily?

The money spent, plus the huge wage on a brilliant manager… you don’t think we should be doing more today?

I’d have liked us to be in a better position, but I didn’t expect it.

I’d say it’s your expectations that are out of line, given where we’ve come from, and how far we are behind every other club in this division from a development perspective.

Yeah. Sh!t happens, deal with it. Who, for the money, would do a better job (overall, not based on one or two games)?

Only morons are turning.

I’m embarrassed to support a team with such fans.

I wouldnt look at the match thread on tractor boys then, some very harsh words re McKenna

Seriously McK has plenty of credit - for our performances this season it is only now in Feb that we hear a smattering of discontent both from the stands and online.

If you want to look at what turning on the team is, just watch the scenes at King Power, Molineux and even White Hart Lane, when you have thousands streaming out at half time, sarcastic chanting at their own players and non-stop booing. PR in comparison is still by far the happy clappy positive (although sometimes silent) ground.

How long more is it going to take until we revisit the scenes of Charlton and Bristol Rovers away I do not know, but if we sleepwalk to relegation probably sooner rather than later.

Why do people keep on with this ridiculous “we’ve spent £120/150M” with the implied conclusion that this should suddenly and easily make us a competitive in this league.

That is a fraction compared to what every other team in this league has spent in the last 10years.

We clearly haven't got the depth across the pitch that more established teams have nor the money to pay for it. Perhaps people just need to get real and appreciate that we got here and hope we get lucky.

Context, though. We were the better team for 90 minutes and they mugged us, scoring with their only 2 decent attempts. These things happen. Yeah it's annoying, but these things happen.

How can you watch that today and this be what you took from it?

Probably not so what do you suggest the solution is that we can afford.

Yeah and that's where we're at. I think today just confirmed that realism:,. The massive ask that has been realised and we have to accept that we are were we are with what we've got.

I'm surprised that this is a surprise given we're we've come from.

I don’t think we were the better team - I don’t think we created enough, particularly second half, I don’t think we were proactive enough and I don’t think we looked any better than the worst team this league has seen since that Derby team, even without Muric errors

We could have been 2 up at half time, but for the width of a ball. Broadhead should have done better too.

Yes, the result was disappointing, but the performance wasn’t as dire as some would like to make out. Especially the first hour.

No one is celebrating mate

What were people expecting transfer wise? Genuinely? We've spent a lot, but you need to in order to have any chance of staying in this league. But we don't have the same pulling power or ability to spend as 17 other sides in the league do

Not fussed by McKenna's wage. I was fully on board for giving him whatever he wanted to keep him here as I'm sure 99% of fans were at the time

Transfer wise it looks a disaster.

We have tried the Brighton / Brentford model which may well recoup the fees. We have ignored older, battle hardened Premier League experienced players, presumably because there is no sell on fee.

A mix of both would have served us better.

I am shocked. I think it's clear that some people massively underestimated how big the step up to the Premier League is.

Beast of a league that was always going to be a tough tough task to even compete in. Regardless of the money we spent, we were playing catchup to 19 other teams in the league. Mckenna has a tougher task than any other manager in the division. I think there are some things he would have wanted to do differently, and other things he has done very well. Sort of what I expect from a Manager with under 5 years of experience taking on the Premier League for the first time (as the main man)

I haven't lost any faith in him.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion that's a poor take... I get where we've come from, back to back promotions, having been languishing in league 1, with no sense of direction...

the last couple of years have been amazing, but there are NO excuses for that yesterday, bearing in mind we beat them twice last season and have only taken 1 point from them this season..

yes things can and do happen, but there is no beating around the bush, yesterday was a MUST win game, despite Mckenna saying otherwise in his press conference..

Well, it was a MUST win game if we have any desire to stay in the premiership

This is a more balanced take. It's all really about the longer term strategy.

Could £6m a year get a manager that is more likely to keep us in the PL - yes, I think so

Is there a manager better equipped to get us back up than McKenna if we go down - no I don't think so.

However the worst case scenario here is we stay loyal to him - let him take us down, and then he leaves anyway.

KMc has a really big 14 games coming up for his own career IMO.

Everyone, myself included expects KMc to leave at the end of this season. But if we go down with a whimper, I'm not sure there are any PL clubs who (a) will need a manager and (b) would go for McKenna.

Would Brighton for example go back in for McKenna if Hurzeler left?

You are forgetting we have an extremely odd fan base and a lot of them clapped and cheered relegation, even the manager said i’its nah normal’.

But I don’t get why so many people are so annoyed and angry with this manager, who in all honesty is probably a bit out of his depth and still learning his trade.

We’ve got a manger who’s the 5/6th best paid in the PL, spent £120m… and sit 19th.

Is that to be celebrated?

On top of that, we’ve looked pretty sht. And often with no idea.

Why do the morons on here always revoke back to spending 120m

All premier league teams that have been in the league for say 3/4 years - spend this and more Every single year. 120m isn’t enough to catch up. Nowhere near . It’s continual spending and upgrading which improves

Forest since 2022 have spent over 360m.wolves similar. Everton have spent half a billion in 7 years
