Honestly mental how quickly people are turning on the team and McKenna 21:44 - Feb 1 with 9057 viewsNedPlimpton

Although I suppose we've seen it every January for the last 3 years now.

I thought given were we've come from, that people might have more realistic expectations and that McKenna might have some credit in the bank but apparently not

Why do the morons on here always revoke back to spending 120m

All premier league teams that have been in the league for say 3/4 years - spend this and more Every single year. 120m isn’t enough to catch up. Nowhere near . It’s continual spending and upgrading which improves

Forest since 2022 have spent over 360m.wolves similar. Everton have spent half a billion in 7 years

Why do you people always resort to name calling (which isn’t very impressive by the way, just sad) whenever someone dares to have a difference in opinion?

It’s my opinion that a huge part of our fan base are slightly thick that’s all. I’ve said it for years and continue to say it. All clubs have a % that are - but we seem to be at the very top of that list when things aren’t great.

Pretty sure if you read through this forum the name calling towards our players is slightly worse, and rather alarming don’t you think ?

Plus “you people” could be seen as not that complimentary :)

I’ve just had a flick through your posts and you called Southampton the team we were most likely to ‘batter’, now you’re getting annoyed at people frustrated we lost to them. I think your first sentence is correct

They do with those of us who have been through the washing machine a few times following the Town. It's only those soft between the ears that expected instant success.

I’m not sure what’s wrong there

If we are going to win a game - that’s the team we should beat - that’s fact. But for people to be calling for McKenna to be sacked, contracts to be ripped up , threatening harm I saw on 1 post towards Muric (this was deleted ) and the usual garbage around we spent money - we therefore should be top 10 - seems overkill x100

You seem to have seen a lot of stuff on here that doesn’t exist, 1 troll has said McKenna out and no one has said we should be top 10. How can criticism of our recruitment be garbage?

I don’t think we were the better team - I don’t think we created enough, particularly second half, I don’t think we were proactive enough and I don’t think we looked any better than the worst team this league has seen since that Derby team, even without Muric errors

I agree we didn't create enough, but we were clearly the better team over the 90.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Based on what if you agree we didn’t create enough chances?

Have a look through posts - and the comments. If you think only 1 person thinks McKenna should leave - then I can assure you that’s not correct.

I remember being at the West Ham game - and hearing Johnson getting racially abused and McKenna being told to “get the F out of our club” when we went 3-1 down. Just A little sound bite remembered from earlier in the season with regards to how a minority speak( there were about 12 people stood behind saying this). J

People Can criticise the recruitment process - that’s fine - but what gets me - is the same things being said. “We spent £120m” thinking that gives you a given right to be challenging or being safe. It’s literally peanuts when trying to create a squad in the premier league

A fair few said top half would be easily achieved (think there was a thread about betting on exactly that at one point) so I don’t think I made that up

I think we could argue all day long that town were the better team, but at the end of it we still lost.

But then that’s football for you,and for the record I put this one down as 2-2.

Do you not worry that the worst team in the league scored the two times they went in our box?

Yeah, but they were two keeping errors. They don't detract from the overall performance by the outfield players.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion that's a poor take... I get where we've come from, back to back promotions, having been languishing in league 1, with no sense of direction...

the last couple of years have been amazing, but there are NO excuses for that yesterday, bearing in mind we beat them twice last season and have only taken 1 point from them this season..

yes things can and do happen, but there is no beating around the bush, yesterday was a MUST win game, despite Mckenna saying otherwise in his press conference..

Well, it was a MUST win game if we have any desire to stay in the premiership
[Post edited 2 Feb 6:41]

Yes it was a must win that we didn't win, but what's that got to do with any analysis of the overall performance?

You're lashing out at a bad result, but the performance for the most part was decent. If that's a poor take then there are lots of people making poor takes, including Phil Ham and Jim Cooper on TWTV.

There is lots of play in a game other than chances.
And it's perfectly possible to be the better team but still think you could've done with creating more.
I'm surprised I'm having to spell this out.

It's a weird mix with performances as, if I take a step back, I think we've looked better against Fulham, Brighton (up to 60) and Southampton second time around than we did the first - Fulham more because we were away; we performed well at home too. But we have two less points on the board from those three games. And those points have been dropped at Portman Road.

We’ve got a manger who’s the 5/6th best paid in the PL, spent £120m… and sit 19th.

Is that to be celebrated?

On top of that, we’ve looked pretty sht. And often with no idea.

We were the better between the two boxes. Unfortunately they were the better team in the penalty areas, and that's where games are won and lost.

Expecting - nothing.

Hoping - a mix bag of quality PL experience, physically strong, a striker, potential to step up from championship.

But we’ve failed, rather badly IMO

You were deluding yourself if you thought we'd be getting "quality PL experience." We're back at the top level for the first time in two decades, having come up with two teams who had had 10 years up here before us and competing against another 17 established sides. Nobody was going to jump ship from another PL side to sign for us.

The PL experience we did get in the summer inevitably came with risk. Phillips has been off form for three years now, Johnson was only a bit-part player at West Ham and Cajuste (including him as Napoli are of a similar level to a PL team) has been great but wouldn't be here if he hadn't failed his Brentford medical. Getting a 1 out of 3 hit rate was to be expected.

To be fair, i didn't reference the performance in my original post... I'm in agreement that the performance was generally a good one and we were better than Southampton..

That, if anything makes yesterday's result even worse.. we were the better team, against poor opposition, who scored from their only 2 attempts in the game and we still lost...

We weren't expected to beat the likes of City and Liverpool, but if we are to stay up we simply have to beat the teams around us, Southampton being one of them..

The boos yesterday were a disgrace.

People totally overreacting and saying things like no passion or work rate in the players, Ashton and KM culpable, worst they've ever felt as a Town fan.

It was hardly 'he's watching the DVD' territory was it.

God forbid we have to fight relegation after fairytale back to back promotions on a small budget playing brilliant football!!!!!!

People have been spoilt.
