What happens with relegation? 13:42 - Feb 2 with 9050 viewsbournemouthblue

We lose Delap for a big fee, Davis potentially and possibly McKenna was well?

We'll still have a very competitive squad in the Championship, central midfield needs addressing and presumably the goalkeeping slot

We'll sign a decent Championship striker or two to replace Delap

Find another manager in the McKenna mould and go again?

I'd be shocked if a single player gets a Prem offer other than Delap. Hie £40m fee plus hefty add ons will help plug the revenue gap going down.

The players behind Delap is a total mess lets face it and the reason why it just isn't working this season. You'd need to get rid of half from -

Philogene
J. Clarke
Smozdics
Chaplin
Hutchinson
Broadhead
Ogbene
Burns

So, so unbalanced with 0 pace & power. What the hell were Ashton & McKenna thinking?

Ogbene has no pace, this same Ogbene?

Don't think MkM will go more worried if we stay up

I think people are rating Davis far too highly to suggest there will be Prem clubs looking to sign him.

I think he’d struggle to replace many left backs in the Premier
League. The lad cannot defend. Hutchinson is another that would be nothing more than a squad player in most Prem teams. Delap is the only player I can see being a regular Premier League starter next season.

As for McKenna, I think he’s far from ready to take over anyone bigger that Town. He clearly still has a lot to learn and my guess is he would be the first to admit it.

Thing is they don’t have to be starters.

Norwich sold both full backs Lewis (Newcastle) and Aarons (Bournemouth) at similar ages to Davis to Premier League clubs, but both were seen as back ups.

Both probably better going forward than defensive, so can see it happening.

Totally agree. We don’t have a single player apart from Delap that is good enough for the prem (other than loanees like Phillips and Enciso).

We have a squad of good championship players and it’s obvious that’s what we set out to buy this season. It seems we have been preparing for relegation since August and have demonstrated nothing to suggest otherwise.

Delap will be a given, think Hutch might force a move, probably Davis. Would need CM as would lose both Phillips and Cajuste to parent clubs. Suspect with new keeper coming today, Muric and or Walton (hope not) would go. Would still have a strong nucleus of a team. Al Hamadi will hopefully benefit from his loan at Stoke.

No certainty we will lose Cajuste.

It's an obligation to buy if we stay up, so if Cajuste is interested in staying and the money is available, we may well keep him even if relegated.

He’s FAR too good for the Championship and he knows that.

He can only play for about 70 mins once a week. Premier league teams can buy the same quality without the need to manage fitness elsewhere. He’s good. Actually he’s very good but I don’t think the premier league is where he’ll end up (unless we stay up). He’s probably also not a great fit for a championship team…he can’t play enough.

If I was a betting man:

McKenna will go. We’ll replace him with a similar style appointment (Rohl or Anthony Barry, I’d be going all out for Barry if we could prise him away from the England set up)

We’ll lose Delap and Hutchinson who will follow McKenna to Spurs. We’ll also lose Davis who’ll go to a lower prem club (Fulham or similar). Some other fringe players will go and we’ll strengthen in these areas.

Our starting 11 will be:
Palmer
Tuanzebe - O’Shea (C) - Greaves - New
New - New
Philogene - Chaplin - Clarke
Hirst / New

We’ll have option for the bench of Walton, Clarke, Wolf, Townsend, Morsy, Humphries, Broadhead, Ogbene, Burns later in the season, Szmodics

And we’ll get promoted again

Phylogenetic and Clarke can sit on the bench for broad head and Ogbeme thanks. Szmodics HAS to be a regular starter in the Championship so Chaplin can make way for him.

That's one of the most idiotic posts of the past week, which considering the competition is quite some acheivement! Good work...

Depends if you know football or not I guess.

If you think the players behind Delap have clicked or are of Prem standard then fair enough. 2025 Premier League requires pace and power, we haven't signed any.

And by the way we signed Jack Clarke as the best out and out left winger in the Championship. We then play him as an inside forward.

I could go on but feel it will be lost on you.

IF and it's a big IF Mckenna was to leave who would we go for? My 2 would be either Carrick or Rosenior...

I want him to stay and continue his journey with us, of course I do.. but think lessons need to be learnt by him too, which no doubt he will

I don't really see it with Rosenior. The squad he had at Hull was imbalanced but with Giles, Delap, Philogene, Carvalho etc he should've been able to play a really effective hybrid style like McKenna, playing out from the back but also devastating on the counter. Instead I found them really pedestrian and one-dimensional going forward. He's also managing in Ligue 1 now anyway.

Rohl would be a much better shout.
