Assuming Palmer goes ahead 13:41 - Feb 3 with 3284 views | GeoffSentence | Which keeper do we lose from the squad. I am not sure if Slicker takes up a squad place, I presume not, three others seems a lot of keepers for one squad.

Walton's out for that long? I hadn't seen that. No wonder Palmer's on the cards.

3rd choice behind Muric and Slicker. Joking aside, it will be interesting to see if he's being brought in as Number 1. He has no premiership experience. Been playing regularly last couple of seasons for Brom in the championship though after a few seasons as a perennial loanee. Smacks of a panic buy to me but time will tell.

100% he's going to be our No 1 keeper. Not sure he leaves West Brom playing week in week out to watch the king of Clanger's from the bench.

Got to feel for Slicker, if he's not getting a look in now when we have an otherwise untrusted and injured goalkeeping department, he's not ever getting a look in.

Bringing in a keeper is the right thing to do by homer_123 3 Feb 12:25I think Muric, if he has anything about him, will know he's not been at the level he or us expect. So,l hardly surprising that, given we want to try and stay up, we are acting. Hopefully it'll spur him on to sort himself out. There's a quality keeper there, IMHO, but right now - nowhere near what we need.
Slicker - disagree entirely, he's young and we are in a dogfight, utterly understandable that he won't be thrown in right now.

...he's literally the opposite of a McKenna keeper. He's a decent shot stopper, but crap with his feet. Looks like the long ball to Delap (if he stays) with one of our 63 number 10s running off him, is going to be the tactic to try and keep us up.

He is young, plenty of time to develop. He was always third string here, so nothing had changed

I'm glad someone else can see that his attributes don't align with what McKenna usually wants from a keeper. It's bizarre.

I agree. McK said he didn't see any more transfers coming in last week. After saturday, suddenly we're in the market for a keeper. Muric is not up to it I agree but its worrying that it took until losing at home to Southampton for McK to realise that. My theory is he's had a rocket up his ass from Ashton and been told to get a new keeper in. Apparently, the American owners were at the game on saturday so I doubt they went home impressed.

I couldn't agree more, but I've been attacked by mentalists on Facebook when I suggested the same. Apparently it's absolutely fair game to openly take the pi55 out of our players on social media and I should toughen up. If this is the Premier League, take me back to the lower divisions.

Again, with Walton out for 2 months. It leaves us with Muric and Slicker. Slicker has literally no experience at any level, let alone a dogfight in the Prem. Muric - I've stated already, I think there is a good keeper in there but right now, it's not working. So, with Walton injured the about 10 hours left to go in the window - what do we expect?

Is it? Really? What's the single biggest issue for us right now with keepers? We let in soft (and I mean really soft) goals. Right now, more than anything, we need a keeper in the sticks that is going to be a solid 7/8 out of 10 each game, do the basics right, give confidence to the defence and keep us in games. Yes, he may not be Messi with his feet but this is about pragmatism right now. Walton's injury has forced our hand. Without it, we wouldn't be signing another keeper. [Post edited 3 Feb 14:06]

Is it not more likely that the decision to get a new keeper in was made following the realisation that Walton would be out for some considerable time, rather than a reaction to Saturday's loss?

Single biggest issue? Distribution, no? I think being good with your feet should be a prerequisite if we're building from the back and baiting the press, which is what McKenna wants. Walton's been unable to do that and Muric's decision-making is comical. Without a keeper that's good with his feet, we don't get a chance to play through the thirds and the midfield will be bypassed for the rest of the season.

Purchasing one of the Champs best keepers for circa £2m/£3m seems a reasonable piece of business and if that is the level of 'panic buying' we are at. I'm OK with it.

I totally get Slicker needs game time elsewhere, I just think back to Richard Wright who at the same age had amassed over 100 games by Slickers current age, including being in a relegation dogfight. Slicker needs to desperately go and get games otherwise his career won't start, and we won't know what level he can get too.

....our entire style of play has been built around having a keeper with "good feet", this one doesn't fit that style, so we will have to change. That's all. But yeah, any port in a storm. Hooooooofffff!!!!

Is he though? Ok, bearing in mind that he's currently only playing at Championship level, his stats/metrics are a better match to how we play than Walton is. For example a 75% sweeper rating.
