Why is he being written off already, Hladky had his doubters last preseason, I remember hearing peoples reaction when we found out Walton was injured and Hladky would be starting the first game of the season.

We have spent most of the window looking for a Striker, RW and CM.
The club are likely concerned without Walton we are too heavily reliant on Muric and that is a fair conclusion. | |

From what I've seen, no worse than Walton.
Again, given the timing of the injury, the window closing, finding a keeper right now, available, that is bang on profile is highly unlikely. |  |

I'm not suggesting we should've kept Hladky, but we needed someone *like* him. Hladky was comfortable with both feet (Muric couldn't be any more one-footed), moved the ball quickly to start counters and could handle the ball in tight areas and pop it around.
I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but Muric can't surely have been top of the Goalkeeper.com data dashboard in European football for distribution. | | | |

For me, no.
Our situation, right now, is different to where we were in the summer.
Muric hasn't worked (I've made my feelings clear on him as a keeper in another thread).
We are lying deep in a relegation battle. Had Walton not got injured, we wouldn't be having this discussion, we'd have seen the season out with the three we have.
However, Walton is injured and we can't rely on Muric. As much as I'd love someone in that meets the profile we want (I think we agree on the profile by the way) that isn't happening this close to the Jan window closing.
Needs must. Palmer is an upgrade on Walton (for me), he's better with his feet than you give him credit for but I agree, that's not his strongly point. He's a good all round solid keeper, in fact one of the Champs best over the last couple of seasons. £2m/£3m is peanuts for him and it seems both a sensible and logical signing.
I think we need a keeper right now that will give a little confidence to our defenders and just be solid - maybe no world class saves like Muric can pull off but dependable, more in the Walton mould. I think we need that right now. I agree, playing out is important, I'm not suggesting it isn't but right now, I think it's a fair trade off. | |

If so, Steele is about the only one that we might be able to get.
Valles is Las Palmas no 1. and playing regularly in La Liga (not sure we have the budget for that), Sambas has moved to Rennes hasn't he? | |
