you might be on to something here. also llama poo is renowned for making one of the best garden composts so it's all good news.

so what does treating someone who identifies as a llama with 'respect and dignity' actually involve. do we have to believe that they're a llama?

He goes on-and-on about snowflakes and the younger generation lacking mental strength, but when the weatherman from GMTV told him a few home truths he walked out sulking - just like a petulant spoilt child.

No idea - maybe hold out your hands and feed them carrots. I once went to a farm which had llamas and I thought I was some distance from them, turned my back and the next thing I knew, one of them was eating the carrots I was holding. Totally surprised me -had to go back to the farm shop as my youngest started to cry as he didn’t have anything to feed the other animals. Going back to your question - treating people with respect doesn’t mean you agree with them so I don’t think you have to believe that they are a llama.

I really want to do walking alpacas. There's a place near me that does it. Might do it for my birthday. I love alpacas.

whenever i've encountered llamas they've always seemed a decent sort, though they have a reputation for being a bit kicky. so respectfully not approaching them from behind may be one element. i agree with your last sentence. respect doesn't mean that you have to agree with them or confirm something that you know not to be true. i wouldn't want to be rude to someone who thought they were a llama, or harass them or discriminate against them in any way. but i would continue to use human language and not place their food in a bucket.

well quite. my point was that it is good disagree civilly and respectfully. but do you think that dignity and respect is consistent with me stating, when relevant, that they are still biologically human rather that biologically llama? or do i need to keep that fact to myself?
