Good to know we're all in safe hands. on 12:49 - Feb 11 by MattinLondon | Can we ignore them but only after posting a picture of cute llamas? |
well i certainly can't tell which one wasn't assigned llama at birth. very impressive.
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

That's entirely up to you I just find the identifying as a llama thing quite strange as I'm sure others do. It's a rather strange world we live in. I could understand if it was a bunch of young kids pretending to be animals for fun but this a whole new level of weird.

Agree, the smart move is to be species fluid and change depending on the situation. Want some free bread? Be a duck Want some free cheese? Be a mouse Want to viciously attack someone? Be a T-Rex

I find it strange that anyone would identify enough to chose an avatar of such a self-centred odious person as Donald Trump. But there you go.

Who identifies as a Llama? Wasn't she asked a hypothetical question on Twitter as to how she would treat someone who identifies as a Llama? Also it was 9 years agio and has since been deleted! There's definitely a trend emerging with your threads where you post something but don't elaborate on your views or do any research on the subject matter [Post edited 11 Feb 15:12]

I'm not sure if anyone has actually self-identified as a llama as yet, mate, so probably no need to get too worried about it. And if they do, I think it's unlikely to drastically impact your day to day life, so don't lose any sleep fella.

Stories about children identifying as cats were certainly bogus. As the article states These stories are not quirky urban legends. They are apart of a broader pattern of opposing trans rights and LGBTQ+ inclusive policies, especially in schools. https://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/viewpoint/23623894.children-identify-cat [Post edited 11 Feb 16:51]

The campaign is working, as might be expected with the might of the right wing press and others on the right pitched against a very small minority.

Historians are warning. It's not where we ended up in the 30's and 40's that we need to be looking out for - but how it all started... ...drip, drip, drip - the creation of conditions for a repeat of some of humanity's darkest days is gathering pace.

Yes, complete bollox. And yet we still hear it trotted out. I heard it in the wild just the other day, coincidentally about the time it cropped up on here again. This llama thing will be rubbish as well. I feel sorry for the gullible twonks who believe stuff like this and spread it around. No wonder scammers are able to rip people off left right and centre if this is the level people operate at.

I used to have Pastor Niemoller's poem on the back of a bright yellow ANL t-shirt. It's interesting to see it downvoted but also helpful to see people outing themselves.

I’d give them the benefit of the doubt and guess they think the sentiment in the post and previous one is overkill, which would be ironic given the point of the verse. Better lacking any sense of irony than being a Nazi sympathiser though! It’s scary times. I’ve no idea if we’re heading for wide-scale persecution of minorities here in the UK, but as DJR showed above (and the riots last summer, and the increases in antisemitism and Islamophobia) there is certainly a growing intolerance that should be ringing some alarm bells for any decent people. yes it's complete overkill verging on the hysterical. no one has 'come for' trans people and we have more asylum seekers and muslims in the uk than ever before. all this stuff is complicated and cliched exaggeration doesn't lead to sensible discussion.

You are of course aware that they didn't begin by 'coming for' the Jews, it began with the sort of low level distancing of that community that the charts shown earlier in the thread illustrate is happening now. It's not complicated. It's cynical, manipulative and dangerous.

it is very complicated. there is a public debate going on in the uk about the conflict of rights between different groups (where the rights of trans women conflict with those of biological women). those sorts of debates take place in democracies, and over time public opinion moves about as to where the right balance lies. we are not seeing anything more than that. drawing analogies with 1930s germany, the holocaust etc, etc, is overkill, exaggerated and verging on hysterical. people choose to present it in that way simply to delegitimise those who disagree with them (you have different views from me therefore you're the sort of person who in the 1930s ended up 'coming for' the jews). it's cheap and divisive.

Then I think you need to spend some time listening to the many historians of that era who don't often stray into modern politics to hear how alarmed they are about what is happening here, across Europe and over the pond. Debate is welcome but when the debate is being supercharged by a malevolent media and divisive politics, it's becoming very sinister. I really hope I'm wrong but the signs are flashing red.

If you click on the tweet it breaks down the numbers, and whilst less people agree that people should be able to identify as a different gender to their birth sex it has dropped from 55% to 49%……..so from basically every other person to basically every other person.
