Guthrum's Estimated Final Table 11:14 - Feb 17 with 3300 viewsGuthrum

Before people start wailing and gnashing their teeth, note that the sample for this estimate includes games against Liverpool and ManC. Things are perhaps likely to improve from there.

I think we'll finish 19th so would be happy with that, as I don't think we'll be staying up. I agree that none of the bottom 3 will get 30 points this season, the three who came up are just too weak for this league.

If we get anything below 27 points it will be our weakest finish/points total in our history wouldn't it (1994/95 being the worst currently).

Are the two wins Spurs and Wolves?

I'd argue we'd beat West Ham - they'll have nothing to play for by then?

nah, our weakest finish was when we were mid-table in league one, even 20th would be far better than that!

Yes, but also had four more games to achieve (or should I say, not achieve) that.

I guess the worrying aspect is that both Wolves and Leicester have still to play S'oton.

Wail, gnash etc . . .

Not sure I see Man Utd getting to 42 pts, considering their form under Amorim is poor and with their current injury list, they *may* actually get sucked in towards the bottom 5. They are in a bit of a free fall currently, and have less than ~14 fit experienced first teamers, facing European and FA Cup commitments. They face a bigger challenge than Everton and West Ham. Spurs are getting the players back but also have Euro commitments which may hamper recovery time for their players.

Here's an interesting though, if (big *if*) we can get a home win vs Spurs and then win at Man Utd, we could potentially be only 6 pts behind them (if they lose to Everton).

I still think that one or two more clubs may get sucked into the current 3 team dog fight (do not think Southampton will claw themselves out - they need 5 wins from 13 games just to draw level with Wolves current total).

That'll do nicely, along with Man City's 45 point deduction.

Bournemouth fourth and a Champions League place ? There must be a question mark over whether they can sustain their current run of form.

Well, yes, the strangeness of the Premier League. A weekend when we want both Brentford and Bournemouth to win handsomely.

I think the next five games leading up to the Wolves fixture are huge. We need a couple of wins in there because there is a very good chance Wolves will pick up points and we’ll get cut adrift with Leicester.

Ipswich fixtures……Tottenham (h); Man Utd (a); Palace (a); Forest (h); Bournemouth (a)

Wolves fixtures…… Bournemouth (a); Fulham (h); Everton (h); Southampton (a); West Ham (h)

Leicester fixtures… Brentford (h); West Ham (a); Chelsea (a); Man Utd (h); Man City (a)

Is incredible. And something to aspire to.

Fast paced, breaking lines, forward looking and accurate movement and passing.

Very important they beat Wolves. Who need to be dented before their easier run.

Tho they both also have to play Man City, plus Liverpool for Leicester, which we don't.

That would be a very positive outcome of the run of games you’ve shared

It’s going to require Town to go into a new gear.

Perhaps Man U is the win out of the next two?

Yep agree. Bizarrely Man Utd away is now far more winnable than say Bournemouth away or Forest at home.
I'd say Tottenham is still a very good opportunity with their players feeling their way back. I know Spurs fans will think they have turned a corner but they will get more injuries and they are inconsistent.

The problem I see is Wolves could get 6-7 points from those matches I have listed. And if we don't start accumulating we'll be cut adrift when we play them. Of course Cunha may get injured and they may get nothing.

But it's all very well saying we'll pick up points against teams with nothing to play for at the end of the season but, by then, it could be too late.

Yea don’t worry, Guthers, you always get the first couple wrong by a good few places.

Still, will be tricky to get level with Spurs. But I have faith in you now.
