Oo apologies thought she was skipper.

Personally I don't think many millions cared. It was only the media once again that turned it into more.

The millions were witness to unacceptable sexual agression whether you or others watching care or not, or others on this thread think sexual aggression is just plain funny. The judge agreed, it wasn't the media. The point of the OP is the leniency not the culpability.

There speaks a man who understands nothing about what women have gone through over centuries - a good example of why she was right to speak out & take her legitimate grievance through the judicial system.

This is probably the main point. Viewed from a male perspective, it wasn’t a massive issue. Most blokes wouldn’t be particularly bothered if the roles were reversed. I expect some would have been delighted!

Against the backdrop of women being abused, sexualised, stalked and whatnot by weird, pushy or aggressive blokes, it’s a whole different thing.

Emma Raducanu’s had a weirdo stalker this week too. It’s sick.

Its OK to disagree.

In fairness, most on the thread have said it was inappropriate and ill judged, and have agreed with the outcome.

Given the nature of the heat of the moment world cup winning celebrations I firmly disagree with the term 'sexual aggression' and the suggestion that a prison sentence could be deserved. The forum would be dull if we all agreed. 😊

I posted a question with no opinion. You down-voted it without explanation. Would you mind telling me why?

I don't care one jot about that per se, but it's a bit odd that you then say people are showing their true selves based on their comments. What true self have I shown in my question?

I think everyone agrees that stalking and sexual abuse is wrong.

I guess this kind of case brings out some of the nuances. And the majority of the thread have said he was wrong to do what he did.

"Given the nature of the heat of the moment world cup winning celebrations I firmly disagree with the term 'sexual aggression' ".

She herself has said it made her feel sick; and took away all her joy & euphoria at winning the WC - clearly moments at the pinnacle of any player's career that should become happy memories in later life,

You've made no attempt to understand or put yourself in the shoes of a female in that situation.

Incorrect, you cant know that. She did seem to state all that after pressure from others.

I just disagree with you, and that's OK.

Except the only people going on about prison clearly didn’t read my post or the article properly, if in full at all.

If anything it was knee jerk sexism on display from at least three of you, who then tried to characterise it as something else to take the focus off the fact you didn’t read everything without reacting and showing yourselves up.

Trying to play off that sort of thing as “it’s ok to disagree” over and over doesn’t diminish the fact that a lot of people dismissing the incident don’t really care what the victim thinks or feels.

From memory there was certainly a good number of hours before she made those statements. Enough time to be influenced.

But happy to be corrected if you have the timeline.

Swansea's comment "Against the backdrop of women being abused, sexualised, stalked and whatnot by weird, pushy or aggressive blokes, it’s a whole different thing" suggests to me that Rubiales is paying a price for what other men have done to women before this event. I think that's awful.

Do you think that's fair or should I ask Swansea for your answer?

She's also Spanish women's top international goal scorer yet hasn't been selected for the national team since that match. I guess it also influenced her decision to move away from Spain to play in Mexico. The sexual aggression not only took away the joy of the moment but potentially her domestic and international career.

That is of course speculation.

At 34 it is conceivable that she wouldn't be selected for the next qualifying round of tournaments.

The coach of Spains women's team for the past 18 months is female, and she is responsible for team selection.

Also against a backdrop of sexism and bigotry in the Spanish national team.

Downvoted for the stupid personal comment.

"suggests to me that Rubiales is paying a price for what other men have done to women before this event."

No I don't think tht's fair - thankfully the 21st century is grdually becoming more enlightened, & what Rubiales did was manifestly recognised by the vast majority as unacceptable & wrong, so he's quite rightly been punished for that, despite a few men still choosing to not listen to how women feel.

Your post was very clear. But apologies if I misinterpreted: "I’d have thought there is an argument for prison given the fact it’s a sexual offence."

Like I said, I am happy to agree to differ.

I think what he did was inappropriate, and hes been punished.

I dont think it was sexual aggression.

Its OK if you feel the need to discuss this ad infinitum to make yourself feel good.

"I’d have thought there is an argument for prison given the fact it’s a sexual offence, but as I said £10k seems light. Especially to a man as high up as him.

Would have expected a much heavier fine and some sort of community order equivalent."

Nothing in your post contradicts the line that I quoted.

Its OK, we are largely in agreement. 😊
