Anyone think he should adapt a bit? 08:48 - Feb 23 with 7637 viewstextbackup

Doing what we are isn’t working, at all, is it.

Trusts Wolfie to come on at Villa, but not enough to start vs spurs.

If Oshea is playing RB yesterday he doesn’t get beaten like ‘Ben Godfrey is a blue’ does time and time again.

In what way?

We adapt all the time - don't know why this season people think we play a very rigid system and are tactically inflexible when in reality it's completely the opposite.

If anything it's almost the opposite in that we've struggled to find the balance between 'being ourselves' and keeping the other team out, but that's largely down to the quality of the opposition.

It's the classic football fan reaction of just thinking that *something else* would have worked better than whatever did happen and they'll always be right in their own mind about it.

Indeed, we play far from a rigid system, or systems. There are tweaks and adjustments for every game.

Why do you hate ITFC so much? Genuinely, you seem to take absolutely zero joy out of supporting Town and haven't done for years.

I’ve had some of the best times of my life going to watch the town with him over the last 20 odd years…….and particularly in the last 2!

Certainly doesn’t hate ITFC.

Then why does he act like it? Even last season, he was moaning and wetting the bed on here constantly even as we had our best season in decades.

Intelligent response.

It is right though. If you really think that McKenna doesn't tweak the system and adapt almost every single game. You either, aren't watching, or dont understand football.

I think we do adapt, we’re just not good enough & there isn’t much we can do about it apart from spend another £200m odd quid.

Ah yes, MOTD pundits, the brilliant minds that gave us Simon Walton in goal last week. They don't know anything about us - they chance it week to week.

His tactical analysis is good, I can’t stand the bloke but he always impresses me with that

His situational analysis was fine. His assertion that we are “STILL” playing a back four when we had 5 at the back for Villa seemed to suggest quite shallow research to me.

At home, we are STILL playing a back 4

Can think of City and Brighton in recent weeks where we had a 5 at home and we lost those too. It’s not like we haven’t tried other things.

I admit however it’s just my perception of his words, he’s not objectively wrong. I felt he inferred an inflexibility of our formation though, which I don’t think is particularly fair.

How long before it's not classed as reactionary nonsense? I've been asking for it for a while.

I have been calling for 3 in midfield all season. If we protect the back line better, then we have more going forward. Johnson, Taylor, Morsy and Luongo are likely to here next season, so let's start getting the into our system. Godfrey, Phillips and Cajuste will be gone, so add a few to our midfield (we should have tried our best for Sheaf) and we are strong for next season. Unfortunately, this season is gone now, Wolves look to be improving, so our plans for next season are probably about to start.

Good point yeah, it's not reactionary nonsense, it's just plain old standard nonsense.

You honestly step back and look at everything that's not gone right this season, as compared to a player scoring at least 10 goals for a likely-relegated side in his first Premiership season, dragging us pretty much single-handedly back into a number of games and knocking on the door of an England call-up, and think "You know what this team needs? Less Liam Delap"?

Ye absolute gods.

Yeah apologies for thinking about something that might have a positive effect on our other players. I'll refrain from it and be happy that one player has 10 goals but has 2 assists. 8 yellows. Given 54 fouls and created just 2 clear goal scoring opportunities this season.

Sorry about that. Guess I'm just used two mckenna football where it was important how the striker worked with his team mates.

The first half hour vs Brentford was the best we played all season, Hirst was up top. Stop having a pop just because it’s Frimmers

Sounds like you're quite ripe for a pop at too, if you think half an hour at Brentford was anything like as good as the whole performance against Chelsea, when Delap beat them senseless the whole game, scored one goal and made the other. Pity the game isn't half an hour long really isn't it? Also who was it who got us back into the Brentford game just before Muric Muric'd?
