FA want Millwall 'keepers ban extended ... on 13:58 - Mar 5 by Smoresy
My thoughts too! This decision was reported at 9am, so they've had half a day to clear up other incidents.
Maybe they are waiting for Cunha's thoughts.
Cunha was later in the day on Saturday tbf perhaps they’ll announce his tomorrow.
Automatically banned for the next 3 games just wether more gets added.
Earlier in the season Mohammed Kudus got an extended ban for more or less the same thing as Cunha, 5 games instead of 3. Cunha could be looking at 6 with previous this season.

Harsh, it was an accident.
Sadio Mane didn’t get an extra ban when he sliced Edersons face!
Seriously?
That was extremely dangerous play. Mateta was standing upright - no stooping - and the left boot when right into his face. Of course it wasn't deliberate, but if that isn't a prime example of putting another player's wellbeing in jeopardy, I don't know what is. Meteta was hospitalised for a couple of days, and is still under observation. He could have suffered permanent damage from that 'tackle', either from how his head snaps back, or his uncontrolled impact into the ground.

The tackle on Omari at MUFC was equally as bad IMO
If Cunha gets away without an extended ban after committing about three red card offences in 30 seconds and completely losing his head and turning into a thug for the second time in 3 months, the FA may as well pack up and go home. They let him off lightly for the offences against us on the basis he said he was sorry and it wouldn't happen again, he should get the book thrown at him now. Sadly, I doubt it'll happen.

Red card is appropriate and I'm not against the ban being extended, but the pile on for this particular tackle has been ridiculous, presumably because it's Millwall. I'm glad they showed their support of him last night

For those of us old enough to remember Harald Schumachers assault on Patrick Battiston its all a bit precious tbh. France didn't even get a free kick for that...

Am I right in saying the ref gave nothing for the Millwall one too?

I just looked it up to remind myself (I am old enough!).
Tbh, I think the Millwall one is much worse because of the foot / studs / head combo.
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

It was reckless but not malicious. Compare with an unprovoked elbow in the back of the head. FA is a joke.

Those were different times (as in what players 'got away with'), but that incident at the World Cup in '82 verges on thuggery imo. Worse than the Meteta incident, as Schumacher did seem intent on taking Battiston out, and was late with the contact.
But there you go, we all see things differently.

Simply, it's his 2nd red so isn't that automatically an extra one game anyway?

I don't disagree with that, but we're not debating how it compares Cunha's attack on our official (yes, that should have attracted an extended ban, not a reduction).
If we just focus on Roberts' foul, a boot does not belong 6 feet off the ground with studs exposed. It was reckless and significantly endangered a serious head injury. Mateta could still suffer consequences from that in the future - possibly years hence.

I initially thought that, but he didn't receive a red in our game - it was retrospective action that brought the 2 game suspension. So not automatic, only if they review it and decide on a longer suspension.
