And yet people will ignore that for much of the game we matched an in-form team, away from home, that are pushing into the top half of the table.
Fine margins, and we could have easily come away with 3 points. A solid mid-field performance today, and some lovely interplay. Sometime it worked, and sometimes it didn't.
Yes, we've not been good enough at times this season, and have let the odd game get away from us. But at other times we've shown the promise of a team that could compete in this league. If we survive (as unlikely as it is), we have the foundations to build in this league. If we are relegated, we also have the same foundations to come back stronger. [Post edited 8 Mar 17:09]

We've been in FAR worse positions as a club. The people you describe need to unbunch their panties and look at the bigger picture. A small step back into the Championship for a season (if that's what it turns out to be) is fine in the overall upward trajectory.
If it was plain sailing all the way into Europe it would be boring!

We are probably 2 maybe 3 PL quality players away from staying up, just not sure how a club who have not had any PL seasons in the last 5 can now compete as they have not had the chance to build a squad with the funding that PL seasons and parachute payments bring. |

Yes indeed - I have enjoyed this season far more than any since 2002, except the last two, and will continue to do so whatever happens.
If you can't take defeats and setbacks and backward steps when you're pushing forward at such pace overall, you really haven't got what it takes to play the game.
I fkn love this club and what Gamechanger and Ashton and McKenna and every member of the squad have done in the last three years. It has been, and continues to be, a superb experience and a proper success story. |  |

How much is luck
How much is because of training schedules
How many were because the players injured don't have the natural physical requirements to cope with prem football. You look at axel... we somehow got him through previously. This season ignore his thumb obviously. But his muscle injuries have returned again which he suffered with alot when he was last playing prem level football.

He just doesn't get it. Being here is part of the opportunity. It's enabled us to strengthen in all areas of the club, and if the playing side isn't up to scratch just yet then so be it. It's not for the want of trying. And if we take a step back into the Champ it's not the end of the opportunity. The bigger plan is still ahead of schedule, just with an extra load of cash and better squad thrown at it. | |

Not really, no. That suggests we've not made the full effort required. We haven't just come up and banked the money, we've gone for it... but here's the problem, it's very difficult. It's easy with hindsight.
Trying to do something very difficult and ultimately falling a bit short is not the same as missing an opportunity in my mind. That suggests it was there for the taking and we just didn't take it for some reason, which I don't think has been the case at all. | |
