... from the usual suspects.

And yet people will ignore that for much of the game we matched an in-form team, away from home, that are pushing into the top half of the table.

Fine margins, and we could have easily come away with 3 points. A solid mid-field performance today, and some lovely interplay. Sometime it worked, and sometimes it didn't.

Yes, we've not been good enough at times this season, and have let the odd game get away from us. But at other times we've shown the promise of a team that could compete in this league. If we survive (as unlikely as it is), we have the foundations to build in this league. If we are relegated, we also have the same foundations to come back stronger.

You know it really is ok to be negative after a loss, and a series of losses at that. I thought we deserved a draw but we didn't really look like scoring. We defended very well but we just don't have enough up top.

It was not fine margins today, Palace had better chances to score more. You can't just say if we score our chances we win and ignore the opposition otherwise any game is fine margins.

We played quite well but Palace were the better side, as you'd expect from the strength of their side.

Those chances were 19 shots 4 on target , ours were 15 shots 8 on target ?

Thats small margins is it not 🤔

By using a foreign scouting network to bring in quality at bargain prices. We've brought in too many expensive English players who are simply not to standard, mainly because our success out-stripped our off field development.

You have to build a team and build a scouting network. We’ve not had the time to do either to compete at this level. The fact we’ve not been battered week in / week out is credit to the players and coaching staff we have.

Yes, of course it's ok to be disappointed and feel negative - but that's not the cr@p I'm on about.

It's the predictable , and repeated, posts after a loss calling for KmK to go, saying the entire team is cr@p, laying into individual players unreasonably, etc that I don't like to see.

Good, balanced, objective posts of what the team, or individuals, did wrong is not unreasonable - but should also recognise what they did well. Just take a look as some of the threads (today and after most recent defeats, even when the team put in a performance).

There's being negative, and then there's being obsessively critical.

I will respectfully disagree with you that most of the players are not good enough - yes, right now many of them need more time to develop and build an understanding. But the green-shoots are evident (imo). They just need more time with Kieran, and in the gym.

Take Jaden - still a long way to go, but compare his tracking back and defending today, vs his first couple of games. And Hutch 'bouncing' players off him.

No, many of the players aren't there yet, but they will improve. We'll also get some more funds in over the summer to further build.

We won't need to sell over the summer, even if we go down, so much will come down to who we can persuade to stay the course, if we want to keep them.

IMO (again) there is a nucleus to build around, with time to develop those talents.

I appreciate you response but disagree, very few players from us and Saints/Foxes are good enough. Look at the gulf, table doesn't lie.

As much as it would be great to be having a fantastic season there would be little to discuss.

Would rather vent my frustration here than at a match etc.

As I say, I didn't watch but that xG would suggest Palmer played out of his skin to keep it down to 1 and Henderson had a good game too to keep it well below the xG. Fair enough if that's the case.

They had three one on ones that Palmer saved. Henderson pulled off a good save against philogene first half but all the others most goal keepers would have saved. We created virtually nothing second half even when we were three against two at one stage.

International scouting can be done by sending someone to watch matches even at a basic level. It doesn’t all have to be data analytics companies recommending someone like Muric. Muñoz for Palace was scouted playing for Nacional in Medellin who always have had very technical and physical players same as the rest of the Colombian league.

We have zero international scouting operation. We had more of an international scouting operation in 1994 and during the early Burley years.

Perhaps that's a function of being in League One for a few years then getting promoted very quickly and with new owners who had little time to get things into place?

Moon and stick come to mind.

From memory he made one fantastic stop from Delap one handed on his near post.

You seem to have forgotten that a defender cleared one off the line and I thought the save from Delap was exceptional.

Agree to an extent but I think we'd have been hard pushed to have found enough quality players that wanted to come here, given we were rejected by many of the ones we tried for (Ioaniddis) and got Cajuste because Brentford pulled out of a deal.

Yes the scouting network needs rebuilding and hasn't kept up with the club's on pitch progress (very hard for most other things to keep up). I would be cautious about a hypothetical where a bunch of bargain players signed would have kept us up, given the time they would have needed to acclimatise. Same hypothetical where people suggest we would have done better playing more of the L1/Champ players.

It’s perfectly normal to be frustrated from a bad results, a series of results or a season of struggle. In the exact same way it is perfectly normal to be euphoric off the back of double promotions.

Always annoys me when fans say you can’t express any negativity - It’s part of being a football fan, it’s emotion, it’s passion.

As I said in another post, being frustrated, down or negative is to be expected, but some of the cr@p that is posted is not - calling for Kieran to be replaced, claiming the entire team is useless or the constant hounding of an individual player is objectionable behaviour.

Happy to see the objective criticism of specific incidents, and we see much of that, but there’s a county mile between that and some of what is posted by a few.

Fine margins...I hate that expression. It’s an excuse trotted out by those who refuse to accept we’re just not quite good enough. We lack the necessary quality at both ends of the pitch, more so the top end and consistently so. If we do get another chance in the top league, for yes I think we’ll go down, then at least I hope we’ve learned what is needed to stay there.

I was at the game but watching the MoTD highlights reminds how the margins were not fine. We just only lost 1-0.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Anyone calling for a KMc exit is in pure lunacy land, and has absolutely no real understanding of football - but that’s just my opinion (can just file them posters away on ignore)

Don’t really mind criticism of players or incidents mind you, as long as it’s not these personal attacks you sometimes see of people going ott - analysing the game, players and team is part of the process of being a fan, and a fan on a football forum.

That's exactly it.

It's the sulky, petulant, quivering bottom lip, OTT posts that are so disappointing when they come from actual Town fans with very small metaphorical testicles.
