What is the most miserable place on the Internet? 17:17 - Mar 26 with 3091 viewsDubtractor

I'm going for the comments underneath any eadt story link on Facebook.

No matter what the story is (and it's often positive) it's just a cascade of negativity.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Even more parochial and negative - village facebook groups. Guaranteed you'll find someone moaning because something isn't up to scratch.

My personal favourite was a couple of winters ago - someone took to the village group to castigate parents because kids waiting for the school bus had drawn cocks on their frosted-up windscreen.

The page admin eventually took it down because they got ROASTED.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Do you think it's a Suffolk thing? I moved away many years ago and have seen that relentless negativity on Suffolk based groups, and on here (even when we were winning). I don't remember Ipswich / Suffolk with a particularly negative vibe though.

No. Take a look at the Echo News site for Southend, Basildon etc same thing.

Kent correspondent here.

Same rules apply on the south coast, but with added anti immigrant focus, given small boat landing zone and local hotel occupancy rates.

You do get a lot of comments about shops being money laundering fronts and the criminals being foreign etc

There's definite under tones of that on the Ipswich pages

When you dig down into the posters, some aren't even from Ipswich or even appear to be real people so there's an element of that going on too

There's some deliberate putting down of the town going on and it's not always clear where that is coming from

The EADT can be a depressing place - Before Christmas, a group of fellas got together and opened a new food market in the town centre. One of the first comments was ‘that’s why I voted reform’. A group trying to improve the town centre and because they were of Indian origin some simpleton got angry.

There's a definitely a bit of that going on, some of the commentors seem to be living on another planet

Surely it's the forum on a match day when we have lost.

Some of the most entitled bell ends with incredibly short memories complaining that Ipswich have been edged out by an established Premier League side that cost at least double our team.

Make local FB groups look like a oasis of calm rationale debate.

What’s the full story with that? Think it happened before my time but it’s referenced occasionally on here and sounds funny.

A poster Malcolm...informally known as "Mad Malky" cos he was a bit of a loon....got very upset and claimed that Joe Royle ruined his wedding.

Think it was because something moved (a friendly maybe?) and clashed with his wedding.

It wasn't said in jest, he was genuinely annoyed.

Malky was quite prone to a teddy out the pram meltdown from memory.

Same rules apply everywhere I’ve lived too. It may be a UK thing, but I doubt it stops there. Facebook, and Twitter/Insta, etc. in general, was invented for self-important knobheads.

My father in law lives on the Algarve. The local FB group is full of moans about dog poo in Portuguese.

Didn't he claim that he'd invited all the players and then Royle took them away on a training weekend or something?

And the they all denied all knowledge of it?

Can’t generalise like that. One group local to me is a cesspit; another is superb - just really useful stuff recommending local tradespeople, advertising unwanted items going foc, just need picking up etc.

Ours does that, in between moans about dog poo, the bin men and the new online booking system at the local GP surgery. Rarely any outright nastiness but it's riddled with petty moans about extremely minor inconveniences.

Dog poo isn’t a minor inconvenience- any dog owner that leaves their dogs poo on the ground should be stripped naked, covered in said poo and paraded around that park or neighbourhood.

Applying the same logic to Swans - I think Charlie should be named & shamed. I'm not unreasonable, and not sure anyone really wants to see him naked.

I'd have thought that you, as a health professional, would know that dog poo left on paths, pavements & streets is a health hazard & not a "minor inconvenience"!
