I could listen to this level of detail from KM all day 15:30 - Apr 4 with 2646 viewsjasondozzell

For the second one we roll a goal kick short to Dara O'Shea, with a patterned movement to Sam Morsy, with a patterned connection to Nathan Broadhead, with a patterned connection back to Jens Cajuste, because we knew we had the 2v1 on their number 10 when they're pressing their diamond shape.

"We knew whenever we connected back to Jens Cajuste that Liam would be 1v1 in the left channel because Julio Enciso would have dragged the right-back inside. So we knew that we'd go into the space to Liam Delap in the channel and then Conor (Townsend) would arrive with an overlap.

"Then we knew that our number 10 and our winger would run to the first line, so we'd go for a second line cross. So if that is the epitome of direct play then I'm not sure!

It's a little bit of a departure from Mick's 'Johnny on the spot' isn't it....

Such a satisfying goal, and we’ve seen stuff like that plenty of times of the last few years.

You can tell how satisfying it was for him and what it meant by the celebration…

That's a brilliant video. He really deserves it because we know how hard he works.

It's really similar to so many we've scored isn't it. Chappers V Hull is one...

Yeah, the way he’s happy to explain things is really refreshing. You’d think that every manager/head coach would be able and willing to do so. I’ve always thought they must all be tactically astute given they’ve done all their badges and it’s their job. Maybe some chose not to share. But then when you remember that under Lambert we struggled to put two passes together when we were on the ball, maybe not all managers/coaches are all over the detail (I’d find that amazing if not). Cook wasn’t much better.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Lambert struggled to put 2 words together to be fair.

Just think, if II hadn't gotten Cookie the sack we'd be competing for a European place by now.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Is there any other manager that comes close to this in terms of analysis of games without being too biased or treating people like idiots? I've not seen many.

To be fair to him, not when the words were "Borussia" and "Dortmund"

"......Paul Mariner......John Wark...... Brian Tablet...errrrrrr Talbot"

Yeh, you barsteward. In all seriousness we may have had an outside shot of making Wembley - for the EFL Trophy. Those Could Have Been The Days.

Brendan Rogers was a bit like it when he was over here at Swansea. But it’s rare.

Instead of listening to Arnie telling us why KM's 'timkiering' in the Premier League is bad, he could have been telling us why Cookie 'rotating the squad'' has gotten us to an EFL trophy final.

Apparently Iraola did exactly this after the game on Wednesday. I think a lot more modern coaches are inclined to do it.

That KMcK video is brilliant.

It was a proper ITFC under McK goal.

Damn. I wish we could go back to July and start all over again, doing a few things differently. You can say we ain't been good enough and we haven't really but I feel we've left points out there.

I wonder if this calls for a shortlist of the most 'McKenna ball' goals we've scored under his stewardship. Or would it just be every Chaplin goal and ultimately be too many to choose from?

I think it shows a lot of respect to the fans and the journalists to give detailed responses the way KMcK does. And well done him for contradicting the pundits without being rude or disrespectful, just explaining firmly and clearly why he disputes their argument.

What we tend to overlook sometimes is that a manager can set out a gameplay, tactics and set pieces, but the players have to execute it. A perfect game plan is only as good as the players on the pitch, at the end of the day.

Yeah, but look at the points we have got. How many of them might be at risk if we played those games again?!
