Burgess Contract 16:33 - Apr 7 with 3521 views | LA_Tractor_Boy | I think we all accept that unfortunately Axel wants to move on this summer, but now that we're all but relegated I hope Burgess is offered and signs a new contract. We still need 2 players for each position in the Championship, so unless the plan is for Elkan Baggott to be back up to Jacob Greaves then we won't find better than Cam Burgess.

No def info, but why wouldn't Town make a contract offer to a player they would like to keep and who is out of contract in the summer? Assuming this contract offer has been made, why wouldn't the player sign unless he is looking to move on?

If that’s true it’s quite a remarkable rise from league 1, bombed out , back in , double promotions and now looks a decent premier league player. I must say I thought he was done after a shambolic performance in league 1, maybe Cheltenham away ?

Presumably it’s quite hard to discuss a new contract when don’t know what league you’re going to be in (obviously we do now)

Girona are on a very poor run, they won't go down this season but they have the feel of a club going backwards and may struggle next season. Could be quite the rollercoaster there.

Can't say I'd blame him . He's another player that's been seemingly been dispensed with in favour of an incoming " better" player.

Aren’t they a sister club of Man City? Can’t see them being allowed to languish in the second tier

They're in a network of clubs where Man City are at the top. More like a feeder club than a sister club. Their historic level is not La Liga, they did have 2 or 3 good seasons but the top players moved on last year, like Savihno to City. They're struggling a bit right now but have a great manager in Michel.

Bucket list fixtures and memories are hard to compete with no doubt, but I can't help feel we've mismanaged this glorious man's contract if he goes. Maybe it was sealed anyway once Greaves signed, with Burgess unwilling to risk playing second fiddle in the Championship at his age even if his contract were longer (conjecture). Girona are a smallish club: home crowds below Bournemouth; wages equivalent to a parachute club in their 2nd season if he's lucky. What they achieved in the league last year was crazy. I don't see them doing that again (maybe with Big Burge in the heart of the team!).
Burgess Contract on 06:20 - Apr 8 with 1430 views | franz_tyson | Can't blame him. He played well enough to keep his place, but couldn't compete with Greaves' ceiling. Next season, Greaves will start ahead of him. It's that damnable ceiling.

Actually, it's quite simple, wage depends on what league you are in. Management decide if they want the player or not? Are we now becoming a Brighton where you can move here, flourish and then get a big move? Not sure the purchase price of Greaves vs keeping Burgess is value for money but appreciate he has potentially a higher ceiling. Hopefully next year he will be more consistent. Fair play to Cam, good luck to the big man.

The more I think about it the more incredulous a move to Girona seems. Burgess is a very solid Championship level defender, bit old style no-nonsense type. There's no way a Prem team would sign a player of his chacteristics for example, not even one recently promoted. If Girona really are in for him it would be absolutely incredible for him personally and incredibly naive for anyone to suggest we should have done more to keep him. I spoke to a couple of mates who've seen a fair bit of Ipswich and more of Girona and both without hesitation thought I was joking.

Burgess by BondiBlue 16 Mar 20:38Is he out of contract this summer? If we let him go for free, i am going to be very annoyed. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's a prem club that comes and takes him.
Edit: Wouldn't be surprised if it's a La Liga team that signs him. Close.
