Some of his supporters will be happy in their belief that the pontiff is now in a better place. I attended Mrs Radlett's uncle's funeral some years ago. He was a religious man & he passed this on to his children (or brainwashed them, depending on your point of view) & his son seemed genuinely pleased that his dad was now in a better place, which I found rather scary.

Perhaps his Dad was suffering from some horrible illness, which made his demise a blessed release.
