Am I the only one who thinks Scott Parker is a fraud? 07:31 - Apr 23 with 1647 views | Jimmy86 | Yes, he's achieved 3 promotions from the championship, with teams that had just been relegated from the premiership, with parachute payments and premiership quality squads, to then do sod all with them in the premiership

Am I the only one who thinks Scott Parker is a fraud? on 07:39 - Apr 23 with 1570 views | Herbivore | Burnley had something like 48 players either leaving or joining over the summer. Despite the advantages of parachute payments and having good players, it's still not easy to manage that level of churn and create a cohesive team. I'm not sure he's a Prem manager, he's struggled at that level and I expect he'll struggle again, but calling him a fraud is very, very harsh when he's achieved three promotions. It feels like we live in a world nowadays where everything is so polarised and binary and there's no middle ground. Parker is either brilliant or he's a fraud. It's much more likely that he, alongside the vast majority of managers, falls somewhere in the middle and is a good but not top level manager.

By the same token, has he managed a club where he had a chance of staying up. We’ve seen how hard it is, does that diminish our thoughts on McKenna? If some of these managers had a chance at a non promoted team they might do ok.

Difference between Mckenna and Parker is the fact Parker never managed to take a team marooned in league 1 up to the premiership, having achieved back to back promotions.. so no, I wouldn't say the same about Mckenna, if he isn't able to establish us in the premiership..

Playing devil's advocate here, with the Gamechanger thing, McKenna had a LOT of financial (and infrastructure) advantages in League One versus the competition. Championship, obviously different story.

Paul Cook also had the benefit of those changes.....

Am I the only one who thinks Scott Parker is a fraud? on 08:48 - Apr 23 with 1174 views | BlueBlood90 | That's harsh to say the least. He's been promoted with three different teams at the first attempt. He got relegated with Fulham but they made more of a fist of it than we have this season. Then he was sacked after 4 games in the Premier League with Bournemouth so you can't really judge his capabilities from that. I remember Parker was one of the names said to have applied when Paul Hurst got the job. Shame he never!

Yep. Kieran is a much better manager than him. What I'm saying, is the reasons the OP (wrongly, IMO) thinks Parker is a fraud aren't exactly unique and alien to us | | | | Login to get fewer ads

But he's been promoted with 3 separate teams, who had just been relegated from the premiership.. teams, who had kept their premiership squad pretty much intact and teams that had parachute payments.. how is that harsh?? Surely with those teams, he should have got promoted? Apologies, I just personally don't rate him as a manager... but he's one of these younger, fashionable managers.. however, the much maligned Sean Dyche is a better manager, but gets pelters, due to his style of football
Am I the only one who thinks Scott Parker is a fraud? on 09:38 - Apr 23 with 950 views | blueoxford | But do you think if you put any of the managers of the ‘big 6’ teams in charge at either Southampton, Leicester or us in the close season(with the same resources), would any of them been able to prevent those clubs from relegation? I suspect not..

"Surely with those teams, he should have got promoted?" He did. Surely the only point you're making here is just how difficult it is for newly promoted teams to survive?

But it has already been pointed out that "Burnley had something like 48 players either leaving or joining over the summer." So it's not correct, in fact it's far from accurate, to say that Burnley managed to keep their premiership squad pretty much intact.

Lots of clubs have money and all think they should go up, so its still an achievement to be one of the ones who make it.
