Think the bigger question is whether Spurs would want him. It would surprise me if they did at this stage.
Indeed. I meant that the attractiveness to McKenna of any job/situation on offer would be a far bigger factor than any release clause amount. Tho it might put off some clubs where money is tight and they need to make lots of signings (e.g. ManU ).
Well - if he goes he goes - I'm not going to worry about it the way I might have done a year ago (especially if we hadn't got up). He's done a fantastic job and will always be welcome here Eddie Howe-style if it doesn't work out, but if he feels he needs to grasp the nettle while his stock is high so be it. The position he's left us in means we're fishing in an entirely different managerial pool now for any replacement with a flush young squad and parachute payments - I'm sure Ashton will already have a long shortlist. Rosenior for me if we could prise him away from France, but I don't doubt there will be some decent names linked if we do have a vacancy.

Let's not forget Vincent Kompany got the Bayern job after relegation with Burnley. Stranger things have happened.
I don't think you can compare the two given Kompany's standing as a player and previous stint in charge of Anderlecht. But I do agree, unexpected moves can happen.

Spurs are a basket case and of the most in debt clubs in the country if not the most. Whilst it might be tempting I'd view it as akin to Potter going to Chelsea which was an unmitigated disaster for him professionally.
....apart from the £13m payoff and the fact he is back in the Premier League getting paid handsomely for failing again already.

Yes, agree with that. I don't think Town would particularly look to stand in his way if there was a job which was an obvious big step forward for him.

I would be suprised if Spurs would want him, I still think our biggest concern would be if the Bournemouth or Brentford job became available
Agree, it's the vacancies which might appear after other managers move on which may be more of a concern, but it would surprise me if he got those jobs this summer. Think they will have other options which aren't viewed as such a risk as a manager who has had one season in the PL and got relegated.

Would fans want him too? Levy will probably go for a 'name' to give the perception of being a big club again.
Appointing a manager who has just been relegated, probably won't play well with most of their fans who will be ignorant of what McKenna can do and has done for us.

I heard they were talking to his people back in January but Postecoglou as obviously stuck around. I would think he's behind Iraola and Frank now but don't think it's impossible that they look to hire him. In some ways I suppose that's not the worst outcome as it should at least happen relatively quickly.
Frank, as in Brentford?
As that then leaves an opening there, a club I could see KM doing very well at. The players he’d have to work with would look great under him
