Philogene operating off the right, Hutchinson through the middle and Clarke off the left in the Championship is ridiculous. Hopefully we can keep hold of Omari as that would be frightening for teams, and with Hirst/another up top, next year will hopefully provide loads of goals.

That’s before you get in to Burns, Szmodics and Ogbenie all returning from injury too.

Problem there - Philogene isn’t a RW, Omari isn’t a 10.

McKenna said on multiple occasions that’s where JP can play, and if I’m mistaken or have lived under a rock for the last 2 seasons, Hutchinson has played multiple times through the middle, and played some of his best football towards the end of last season playing there - whilst in the Championship.

I appreciate OH has predominately played off the right, but if all 3 of him, JP and JC stay, I can’t see a better front 3 than them.

The idea these lads can't play in multiple positions within a game, a season or whatever is so outdated. That's what they've grown up training to do.

I'd be more worried if we didn't rotate and switch them to unlock defences next season.

We could go in to next season well stacked across those 3 positions;
Philogene, Hutchinson, Clarke, Chaplin, Broadhead, Ogbenie, Burns, Szmodics and Johnson (if he stays and that’s where McKenna still sees him playing).

Even if 2-3 of them left, we’d no doubt replace them and as you say, there will be the need for rotation etc.

Nope - Hutch is a RW, Philogene off the left.

No philogene - based on what he has added - hutch is a better right winger, Clarke has looked a better left winger - philogene isn’t a number 10 - would prefer hirst with szmodics as the 2 central or Chaplin - either way they are the best finishers at the club -

You and others will be creaming over Philogene this time next year. Get yourself a few boxes of tissues in anticipation

£20m winger signed in the PL - was hoping to see a level of performance in the PL.

Impressing in the Championship won’t be that impressive.

Try telling that to all the clubs that have signed players for big money due to impressing in the championship.

I have a funny feeling Sammie may be off in the summer. I’m not sure he’d be satisfied with rotation in the Champ at his age and experience, and I’m also not sure if he really fits with our system (unless McK intends to change things). Bit of a square peg. Good player though.
Can’t see Omari staying but Billy Clarke and Ogbene is fearsome at that level.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

You said impressing in the championship won't be that impressive. I said try telling that to the clubs that have signed players from the championship. To break it down, the clubs who have signed big money players from the championship will have been impressed by them, hence the signing. Remember, only recently we have signed hutch off the back of being impressed by his appearances in the championship, which I add, as a fan base in general, we were raving about.

Not sure where he would go, can’t see a prem team coming in so top championship is his level. I’ve seen enough this season that he fits very well with our system, very high pressing on work rate and good finisher.

The only Muff in Town.

I don’t think you are understanding my post - they were signed to perform in the PL, I would suggest a large proportion of our signings haven’t done that.

To go back to the Championship and perform will not be anything to ‘cream’ about - I will have a good cream if they go on to perform in the PL as we initially would have wanted from them - and I of course hope they go on to do so.

The cup game V Coventry gave us a reminder of what JC can do against Championship oppo. Exciting.

If KM can retain most of the AMs we have now, he has sooo many options and combinations to destroy defences next season.

DMs and defence need a bit of attention. Get that right we have nothing to worry about.

You'd like to think he'll be outstanding in the Championship, bearing in mind the fee paid with the expectation he would perform in the Premier League.

With Chaplin, Szmodics, Burns and Ogbenie off the bench/rotate through the starting 11, just need a number 9 to replace Delap and that’s some attacking group at Champ level.

In all likelihood Ogbene won't up to speed to start the season and Burns maybe not until the end of the year - I think we will need to strengthen still particularly on that right hand side.

Without trying to sound too contrary, there was one moment on Saturday, right in front of away fans were Clarke looked like he could be away.

Had a few yard head start on Everton big lumbering CB who just cruised bast JC and won the ball easily - was like a 6th former chasing down a Year 7 on the playground!

I'm sure he'll be good in Champ, but will he ever have that PL physicality you need?

That moment summed up the levels, a goal scoring opportunity in the championship, easily snuffed out in the prem.

Agree with NQ, philogene has looked a bit lightweight so far, but as he develops & gets stronger, he'll become a very good player. Jack Clarke could replace Enciso quite easily if he keeps developing. Wonder if the same will be said of Mckenna improving Baggott & Humpreys?

That was against Jake O'Brien, who happens to be anything but a "lumbering CB", he's actually deceptively very quick. So whilst the questions about his physicality are within reason, I'm not sure picking that particular scenario is a fair one.

I happen to think he has really improved as the season has gone on, he will be a real asset to us next year, and beyond.

Yet again a player looks a bit off it when he comes in, McK gets hold of him, and in time he starts to look very good
The only point of difference is the time it takes
McK has improved pretty much every single player he has worked with
It’s almost as if many people here and in the stands have the memory of a goldfish and get on certain players backs from day one

I just hope Sunderland don't go up and try to re-sign him.

Poll: How would you rate our summer transfer window out of 10?
