It looks like a noble move on the surface, but you do wonder how feasible that will be in the longer term. Guardian reports it will be reduced in capacity, initially by just not using certain stands/seats, but the upkeep must be significant? You'd imagine the women would rather an appropriately sized and modern ground, not rattling around a decaying old stadium? https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/may/13/goodison-park-saved-from-bulldo
Everton keeping the old ground on 18:50 - May 13 with 1423 views | TresBonne | I mean, the principle is good, and it's a nice touch. But this will not last very long, I don't think. At first I'm sure they will have a few decent crowds for the nostalgia factor, but there is absolutely no way this is going to be a commercial success long term.

You'd assume they could cut off the top tiers essentially, the public don't need to access them I have no idea of the layout, does conference or business potential, I assume it's in a fairly tough bit of Liverpool?

Everton keeping the old ground on 19:15 - May 13 with 1324 views | Vaughan8 | They were going to.demolish it but now it's for the women's team? I'm assuming something has happened regarding demolishing it. Looks like a great move but it's going to look rather empty with crowds of 2-3k? And surely a lot more costly yo keep going than their ground now.

They will probably need some new fixtures and fittings after fans take home souvenirs after the final game

Would be funny if it was all a ruse to ensure the place isn't stripped bare at the last home game.

They would be better off with a smaller, purpose built ground. This just seems to be a convinent short term solution.

Top tiers can be covered in advertising/club banners like during Covid. They got 8k against Liverpool at Goodison. There's room for growth and it might make commercial sense with extra advertising etc. It's worth the experiment at least.

Amazing that Ipswich v Plymouth in the Women's National League had around 3k more fans than Everton v Liverpool!

If nothing else it means they get to play on a decent surface - would any other ground they play at have a premier league quality pitch?
