Coventry were the better team across both legs for sure. If Sunderland plan to play this defensive if they get to the prem id really fear for their points total.

Any one other than Sheffield United are going to challenge Southampton for a low points total I would say It will be interesting to see how Burnley and Sheffiled United handle the yoyo They are in the phase we aim to get to ultimately

Sheff Utd in the Prem would get 30k crowds every other week, Coventry would get 30k crowds every other week, Sunderland 45k crowds every other week. We'd get 30K crowds every other week, even Nodge get just shy of 30k crowds every other week. All of those clubs basically as you say yoyo clubs. I know we are not yet, but if we go up next season, we have become a yoyo club. Yet Bournemouth 10k crowds, Brentford 18k crowds have cracked it. What is their secret?

They know that match day sales are only the 3rd highest income generator for PL teams?

Staying in the Premier League and hoovering up the tv dough. Add to that a good scouting network and organisation and there you have it. Established PL clubs like them are going to have to do something very wrong, Leicester, Southampton style, to get relegated now. The small crowds are totally immaterial. They could have no crowds at all, just a simulated crowd of cardboard cutouts, and they’d be financially far more powerful than the clubs you mention.

Sunderland were bloody awful and will get hammered in the final. But....if they don't, and somehow win, do you reckon they'd be back in for Jack Clarke? £30 million?

Lampard going a bit Arteta on 07:50 - May 14 with 783 views | bsw72 | They were the far better team over both legs, missed chances and a defensive blip has cost them. Both Lampard and Le Bris said similar.

I’m not sure - they are quite good in a Forest counter-attacking style. They did the double over Leeds last season. They are good at grinding out clean sheets, should be an interesting game.

Thinking of the oily one, Frank Lampard’s Coventry actually reminded me a bit of a poor man’s Southampton last year. Passed the ball around nicely with little end product.

I don't think they are nearly as possession based and they will mix it up and knock it long as well as they did a lot last night (poorly). Southampton never did that under RM. Sunderland made it difficult but Cov had the chances.

Lampard going a bit Arteta on 09:19 - May 14 with 458 views | Wright1 | Did you not think they were? I thought they were miles the better team tonight and it was a very impressive away performance in a high stakes game. They were probably desperately unlucky not to win it. I lost count of how many chances Rudoni missed in the first half alone. Overall, I think Lampard was pretty fair given the circumstances. It must be rubbish being dragged in front of the cameras after a game like that.
Lampard going a bit Arteta on 09:28 - May 14 with 423 views | Herbivore | I thought they were comfortably the better side over both games, ultimately got done by a combination of missing big chances, an horrendous error late in the first leg, and a set piece after 122 minutes that the guy who'd headed everything all evening managed to get his head on. They had Sunderland under pressure for large chunks of both games and while they were a bit one dimensional, they did carve out good chances and Sunderland offered very little in return.

But did they create that many chances for all the possession they had? Did the Sunderland keeper have that many saves to make? Not seen the stats and am happy to be corrected but despite the crosses and the good passing I never thought they were going to score - until they did of course. Rudoni and Wight? Neither impressed me tbh, but given Simms looks a bit of a donkey I guess their options were limited. What impressed me less was Sunderland. Mateta was good and the big old unit at the back was excellent, but they never got any grip on the game until the last ten mins of extra time when Coventry tired.
Lampard going a bit Arteta on 09:47 - May 14 with 357 views | textbackup | Coventry looked better in most positions to be honest (from what I saw) and played the better football. If they had a decent striker they’d have won

I see that Simms didn't even come on - is he not rated by the current regime, or not fully fit?

I know it's not for everyone but until that late goal Sunderland had about 0.8xG to Coventry's 1.6xG. You are right to say the keeper didn't have to make many saves (I think Coventry had 3 on target) but my feeling was Coventry had the ball fall for them in some really nice areas and always conspired to be falling over when they hit it or shank it wide. Could be completely wrong though.

I thought that. Sakamoto in particular made most good things happen for Coventry - nice little player even if taking a throw in isn’t his forte. I wasn’t really concentrating on the game, so it’s just tv impressions. I wasn’t really concentrating surprised that Sunderland didn’t have more of the game; pin Coventry in the way Leeds did Norwich last season and blow them away early. The cautious approach looked all wrong, but so many teams do it.
