Delap to Manure on 15:44 - May 14 by Deano69 | Who on earth would want to get involved with MU in the state they are in from top to bottom?? |
Because they are still a glamour club and they could well be in the CL next season.
Delap to Manure on 17:13 - May 14 with 2537 views | Blue_Heath | Really hope that is not true. Not seen much evidence Amorim improves players. As good as his goal ratio is he still has an awful lot to learn and weight of expectation will be huge. He'd be better off at Villa or Newcastle or Palace assuming they sell their main striker.

That says they're the frontrunners, quoting Sky. There are those in his camp who favour Man U, but not done and dusted, he's not made a decision, from what I'm told.

We could stick his dad on top of the new stand as a weather vane.

Phil, have you heard any rumours regarding overseas clubs being interested in Delap? Think Juve were rumoured to be interested but they don’t seem to be mentioned in connection with him anymore.

They were mentioned ages ago, but not heard anything recently.

What the f... am I talking about!? That's a pretty worrying brain fart I've had there reading it back. Why on Earth did I think this was referring to Captain Tom Moore? Nurse!

Since when was a player fitting into their system a criterion on who they signed? [Post edited 14 May 20:33]

You were obviously thinking about Kieffer Moore’s blistering pace, and Sir Tom was the obvious analogy.

Since you referenced Michael Vaughan as well, I assumed you were referring to the England fast bowler Sid Lawrence and forgetting he was David rather than Tom. I was still rather confused even then.

No, I do remember Michael Vaughan getting muddled up when talking about "Sir Captain Tom" (for some reason) and presuming that he had been getting interested in the old racism type of thing a bit too much at the time to remember which way around the old honorifics went, which I found odd for a cricketer.

Delap to Manure on 10:11 - May 15 with 1840 views | ClareBlue | Plenty of players have been in his position of a season showing potential then not carried through with it. He's significantly off being a top premiership striker and Manure is not the place to develop where he needs to develop. But a probable 25 million contract that sets him up for life whatever the outcome, why wouldn't you do it as a young lad. But agree,Newcastle would be a better fit.

I keep seeing people say this like we know for certain he has an offer from Newcastle... has there even been any reports suggesting that's the case? He can't just decided he's going to a club and turn up.

A second hand report based on some speculation from the Sun. Maybe they’re right.

The times of that type of loyalty are long gone. The day he/his agent put the relegation release clause in his contract was the day he decided he didn’t want to go back to play in the Championship. If we stayed up it might’ve been realistic that he would stay on a while, before inevitably getting his big move at a later stage. That’s modern football

On that basis then, we will be losing most of the players McKenna has signed.

If any of the others have a good value relegation clause in their contract & are wanted by a raft of Prem clubs, then yes, they’ll probably go too
Delap to Manure on 16:56 - May 17 with 907 views | ClareBlue | I would only ho 50 50 he will become an established premiership player for a top prem club. He was a bright light in a struggling team this year and that has made him look better than he actually is at this stage in his career. He would have a field day in the championship but expectations will be different for him at a so called big club. He's not good enough for a system to be developed just for his strengths. It will be interesting to watch what develops. Wouldn't expect any loyalty from any player. Comes with developing a squad for the big boy league.

For God's sake. Get this in perspective. He was already a established player. Christ, we signed him from Man City and he'd been on loan at Hull. Stop the drama queen theatrics.... he was hardly destitute and penniless and playing barefoot in the street when we spotted him. We still make a profit from him and we probably couldn't have signed him if it wasn't for the 30 million release clause. He's done seriously well for us this season..... puts in a big shift every week, never hear any bad publicity, his goals kept us with a chance of survival the first half of the season.. why the resentment and digs?

And if there's any interest in them from Premier League clubs they will go. A lack of loyalty works both ways. Look at how we moved the likes of Harness and Jackson on when I'm sure they would have loved a chance of playing in the Premier League.

Who was it who said very succinctly that not everyone is really angry every week that this bunch of lads making this big step up weren't quite good enough this time around - this has a similar vibe.
