That said, once they've banked the extra money from merchandise and fans arriving early/staying late, why not announce a last minute volte-face if he still needs that elusive 200th goal?

Whatever happened to him? [Post edited 15 May 13:06]

Do you mean Cup Final weekend? There's nothing on Saturday, but a five-match slate on Sunday. Oh for those halcyon days when there was no other football on Cup Final day, as the league season was done and dusted by that point.

Of course, but hopefully it's a last-minute consolation after Leicester have spent the rest of the game wasting opportunities in trying to set him up.

Well it used to be played once the season was over! Then they played it on a Saturday before the season finished but with PL games the same day so the last couple of years to soften the outrage they said they’d be no games played on the same day or the day before… there’s 2 fixtures on Friday night! Should still just be played once the season is over ffs.

Not always. In 1985 on the day of the FA Cup Final (18th May), Cup of Milk winners Norwich were 5 points clear of relegation. They went down.

That season was scheduled to finish the week before the cup final.

Fixtures have been a scandal this year. PL has gone on WAY too long, like a slow death.

Feels like it could happen though with the emotion of that alone. Especially after everyone saying how much better we are than them despite being just as awful in 2025 (at least results wise).

Sure but they never did because games could be re-arranged after the regular season was scheduled to finish. There were actually four games (i'm obviously looking this up now, not from memory) played on the Friday before the cup final compared to two this season. In them we lost to West Ham to screw Norwich over and Coventry got three of the nine points they needed to over come the yellows.
