Goodbye Mass 13:55 - May 23 with 2879 viewsjasondozzell

And thank you. The last piece of the jigsaw puzzle in 22/23 when he arrived.

Immense last season too.

I remember writing this after Forest Green at home in Feb 23.

Broadhead looked very influential on the highlights too.

Goes with my massive thanks. Wish him well.

His goal against Millwall in the fog was art.

His winner against Blackburn in a classic as well, remember watching that in an airport longue and disturbing the rather quiet atmosphere.

However, more importantly in his role for Town, what a Midfielder he was, gave Davis free reign!

Gutted. I wish we could roll the clock back and have him for another few years. For some reason he feels like he’s been here for a lot longer than he has. And he comes across as such a nice and thoughtful guy.

Best signing of the gamechanger era imo.

Price, influence, impact all top draw that partnership with Morsy was incredible for the relative level. And the way he linked up and covered Davis as well shouldn’t be forgotten. Genuinely think had he been 10 years younger playing the way he did for us, prem clubs would have been sniffing around him at 15 - 20 million quid. I’m not saying he is prem quality but clubs would have taken him based on potential at that point.

Will be missed by me and another pillar of the b2b team. Sad but football!

My favourite player of the Gamechanger era, he completely got that L1 season ticking during a tough spell.

His goals against Exeter and (of course!) Blackburn were huge highlights, but the way he and Morsy linked up and dominated the centre midfield for 2 seasons was a complete joy to watch.

All the best Mass, everyone loves ya!

Wonderful player and always gave everything. Feel more disappointed with Mass going than Delap. Delap seems like a player who’s been on loan for the season and he’s gone, and with Mass he was part of that team that has superb team spirit. All the best Mass.

I just watched the highlights of that Millwall game, don't know how I barely remembered it because all three goals were vintage McKenna-ball team goals.

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

I genuinely think I will shed a tear on Sunday

I just want to echo everybody else's comments and say that that partnership with Morsy evolved very quickly (no surprise there, two superbly intelligent players) and was light years ahead of league one, and then absolutely top notch in the championship too.

I'd agree that Massimo's arrival and instant integration is why we caught Wednesday and avoided the play offs (which I'm sure we'd have won anyway).

I think the 'best free signing ever' comment is very well justified - one of the best signings of any kind ever, given the instant and long-term effects on the club.

Hope he gets good minutes tomorrow, and is captain when he's on the pitch, and gets the best send off ever. Top, top man.

Cracking player. Can safely say we wouldn’t be where we are now without his contribution, which is probably the highest compliment you can give. One of those players who delivered far more than anyone expected. Best wishes for the future Mass. An absolute Ipswich legend 🙌🏻💪🏼

Humphreys has been playing in a more advanced role for Wycombe. That doesn't mean he can;t be part of a midfield 2, but is he strong enough?
We may get another season out of Morsy in the Championship, but a strong partner for him is vital. Taylor hasn't done enough & I'm not sure what is his best position (maybe the subs bench).
We are well stocked in the attacking midfield area, but need another central striker. Hamadi could be our 3rd striker.

For what we need, if we're to go back to our previous Champ style of play Humphreys isn't strong enough. Depends if that's the plan with the array of attacking talents we now have though.

What Middlesboro were doing with him goodness only knows.

He’s was a joy to watch, and the transfer worked out so well for both us and him.

He was so influential on the pitch for a season and a half, and I’m glad he got to be a Premier League player.

Good luck Mass

Looking back knowing we were doomed, I just wish we got to see him on the pitch a bit more. Sentimental I know, but would have been nice.

He played roughly 70 minutes in our opening two games (against Liverpool and City) and in my view did pretty well in both.

It suggested to me that he could have competed at this level had he been that bit younger.
