I'd say its very difficult to compare them all.

We seemed to play better earlier on in the season and then after the Newcastle game where we got battered, we seemed to try and change tactics a bit.

As people have said, I thought we were fairly good at set pieces until the last few months of the season. However, I'm not sure that is all on the goal keeper.

I definitely think Muric will be fine in the Championship. The errors won't be punished quite so much. Interesting to see who we sell as not all 3 can stay.

A significant number of teams in the Championship aren’t going adopt a high press they are going to sit back and invite us to bring the play to them. Result Muric will make fewer mistakes.

Stats don't mean squat. Muric was a disaster from the off, his mistakes got us off to a poor start that we never recovered from.

That's a pretty old fashioned attitude.

If stats don't mean anything, why do PL teams have large analytics providers and departments?

Wasting money for the sake of it I guess.

I agree. It looked to me like Muric had been told to play out basically all the time. The moment Palmer came in we switched from fannying about at the back so much and went to generally going long. I doubt that tactical change was purely Palmer's decision. Much less chance to make a game-changing error when all you're expected to do with ball at feet is put your foot though it.

Yeah, but don't forget KM never changes his tactics!!

A couple of games aside, Palmer has been fairly rubbish for us. It really wouldn't surprise me if we want another number 1 this summer. Muric is a better all round keeper but his position here seems untenable now.

The team just aren’t comfortable with him behind him.

Not a very well liked member of the squad unfortunately.

I was already of the opinion that Muric is our best keeper before I saw those stats.

If he is still of the mindset he wants to stay and fight for his spot, and KM wants him, then happy for him to remain. Unfortunately it may be that the damage has been done. Would hate to see him go on a free or on the cheap.

Was he there for the pitch walk round on Sunday?

If he wasn't, then I'd say that tells it's own story.

Once the defence's confidence in a keeper's gone, that's it.

Last thing we need is a defence starting out jittery.

False economy to keep him in the hope he'll either come good or command a decent fee.

After the season he had here - left out after too many errors & we replaced him with an average Championship keeper - it's going to be hard to persuade anyone to pay a fee, let alone anywhere near the reported £10m that we paid up front for him.

So you're saying a stat, that doesn't take into account all the other variables, is more important than what you are seeing? That's just following the current trend of putting more stock in numbers. And whoever our analytical providers were last season, hardly aided the team. Also, why was Muric eventually dropped, maybe McK realised (too late) that statistics are not the be all and end all.

I think mindset is the issue with him. He seemed fragile confidence-wise from the off, the three goals in however-many-minutes-it-was at Man City, two of which were down to him to a great degree, onwards. He has attributes but I don't think he's solid enough, from what he's shown this season, to be a reliable number one. I know a scout from a Championship club who said his club wouldn't have looked at him and was surprised Town did.

Do you think or heard that players and staff have washed their hands with him?

Probably an unreasonable question but it seems you’re pretty definite he’s cooked at Ipswich.

It's difficult to see a way back for him here. Think he needs a new start somewhere else.

You are brave posting this as I got downvotes for suggesting Palmer is worse than Muric the other week!

Muric’s an excellent keeper, but prone to a brain fart. If it wasn’t for that he could be a seriously good keeper.

The key with Muric is whether KMac thinks after a year or seeing him up close in matches and training is whether they think they will be able to do reduce the errors to an acceptable level. I guess where I am on this is that I’ve not got a clue if they can but can see the potential upside with his other attributes.

If he’s disengaged and a bad egg then there’s basically no chance of redemption. There’s quite a few vibes that suggest this is the case and if that’s correct then there’s no point in having him around as he won’t get better that way.

Muric played when everybody was fresh and motivated. Palmer only came in when everyone had given up hope.

Anyone trying to justify Muric's level of performances need their heads checking.

If we had played Palmer all season, or Walton, or even Hladky, I bet we would be at most 3 points better off if at all. Impossible to prove or test of course. Just my opinion.

Considering the PPG stats I would suggest we may have been slightly better off keeping Muric in. Especially the stat about set pieces.

But who knows? The more mistakes he made the more everyone panicked - fans, management and the players in front of him.

Yes, we were basically struggling in most games, which means the defence was under more pressure, particularly as we initially tried to stick to playing out from the back, which is where Muric looked least comfortable.
