0 on target. All season. Swerved.

Weren't we supposedly ready to shell out £25m for him? Jeez.

It'll be these new-fangled balls and their aerodynamic jiggery-pokery. Possibly.

A few accusations of money being wasted, e.g. Phillips, but that puts it in perspective!

He might end up being a good player, but just had a season wrecked by injury. We definitely dodged a bullet for this season though. Imagine now having to try and offload him after that season.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Can't believe some on here were bemoaning us not getting him.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

The Albanian fans around me at Wembley went nuts whenever he warmed up and when he came on. He looked impressive and made Dan Burn look a mug. Interesting to see what he can achieve if he manages to be injury free.

Always felt like a properly weird one given his injury record. Even when fit I didn't think he was anything special at Southampton or Fulham tbh, certainly not £25m worthy. He's the right physical profile for our #9, but wasn't one I wanted us to do at the time.

Its easy to be wise in hindsight but I do think a lot of people were calling this at the time. TBH I've been for most of our signings at the time, with the exception of Ogbene and Szmodics who I didn't see as value particularly. Szmodics probably proved worthwhile to be fair to him, and there's others I was pro like Phillips and Muric who have flopped for various reasons.

Its not easy to get recruitment right, even if its your full time job.

The few times I saw him this season due to his injuries he did look sharp and in the game versus England as you mentioned

Injury aside next season it’ll be interesting where he ends up because there is something about him

EDIT - Perhaps if the injury can be diagnosed as good to go , maybe we might go back in for a season Ian with an option if promoted ?

Delap - Chelsea
Broja - Town

If Delap ends up at Chelsea, maybe there is something to do there with him.

Feel we’d have better, more suited options for the Championship though.

Who would you suggest EG ?

It’ll be an interesting one who we end up with in terms of another striker to compliment Hirst and also the overhaul of the midfield

Agreed.

This felt like a bullet dodged at the time, let alone with the benefit of hindsight.

Broja has a five year contract with Chelsea ending 2028. Bet it isn’t for peanuts either. He has done zilch for Everton or Fulham. If I’m wrong, Everton will sign him up for £25m which is punt money for established PL clubs. I bet they don’t.

I was hostile to the idea of him coming here last summer because it was far too much of an obvious risk. Injury prone players will always remain just that and even back then, before wheeling in Phillips and Cajuste, we had enough of those. Also it was clear Chelsea were trying to mug us off. I don’t blame them at all. ‘Buyer beware!’

So you are right, the bullet was dodged back then and I see no reason whatsoever to step in front of it again.

Like Delap, it's rare to find a player that size that moves that quickly.

Thus, he shows up on most people's "data dashboards" and people keep taking a chance on him despite him having one leg...

Poor lad has never really got over his ACL injury in a meaningless friendly during the Qatar WC.

A proper pre season somewhere and maybe a drop down to the Championship could help. But he is on £100k a week at CFC so would have to be a loan.
