Delap.... 10:36 - May 27 with 2384 views | Marshalls_Mullet | ...He's been amazing for us, but somehow kind of feels like a loan signing given his one season stay. I don't blame him at all for leaving,it just feels like his legacy wont be that long lasting in the memory of a fan. At least we'll get a little bit of profit on the deal.

Delap.... on 10:42 - May 27 with 2091 views | positivity | agree, but a loan signing where they've given us >10m for looking after him, rather than costing us! better feeling than the josh harrop loan

Delap.... on 10:42 - May 27 with 2090 views | JakeITFC | Think it depends on what happens next - if he goes onto become England's number nine I think we will look back on his coming of age here very fondly in the future.
Delap.... on 10:42 - May 27 with 2087 views | Swansea_Blue | Yep. It could have been great and ended up at Marcus Stewart levels of adoration, but ends up feeling very Keith Andrews. Did well, made a contribution, but that’s not going to be much more than a footnote in our history

also depends how we spend the profit; it was gutting selling dyer before he reached his full potential, but his sale probably bankrolled promotion

Delap.... on 10:58 - May 27 with 1921 views | _clive_baker_ | Had we stayed up and he left I would've been a bit annoyed (although we likely would've commanded a much higher fee as we wouldn't have had an obligation to sell), but given we've gone down nobody can resent him. He'll get an England call up the second he's playing for Chelsea, CL football, silly pay rise and signing on fee. Its a career defining move and good luck to him.
Delap.... on 11:08 - May 27 with 1810 views | boroughblue | Maybe a slightly unpopular opinion but: I’m pretty alright with the £30m. Obviously would have been so much better to have started a bidding war, but since the turn of the year he hasn’t been the same player. Could be down to a lot of things, teams working him out, us getting worse, his head being turned knowing he’s leaving etc. he may go onto Chelsea and flop, showing £30m to be decent money for him, I’d rather that then he stayed with us for another year and have a poor season in the champ and going down in value. Obviously the opposit could happen, could really kick on at chels or wherever he goes, and triple in value, so what do I know

Well, quite. It's a bit pathetic that some fans are so resentful of a player having had the season Delap has had and wanting to stay in the Premier League. Lots of rewriting his season too as if his form has tailed off in isolation to that of the rest of the team. At least the move should be done quickly now and we can move on without it dragging out for the whole Summer.

Delap.... on 11:19 - May 27 with 1729 views | SomethingBlue | Nothing the boy's done wrong – he's come in, done his best, hasn't managed to help us to safety but has accomplished enough to help both himself & us going forwards. Fair play and we wish him well, I'm sure he will understand how much this season has contributed to his career. All this said, I'm sure we would have got him packed out the door yesterday if we could – it's about getting ourselves in prime position for next season now.

Like I said, I don't blame him for leaving. Never suggested he'd done anything wrong. [Post edited 27 May 12:12]

Delap.... on 12:29 - May 27 with 1412 views | Herbivore | The "little bit of profit on the deal" will be bigger than any transfer fee we've ever received. We could perhaps have got more for him on the open market if we'd not gone down, but it's not a bad bit of business to have had him here for a year, him do very well, and us make a decent enough return on him after relegation. Delap.... on 12:31 - May 27 with 1384 views | itfc_statman | Top player but when someone only plays one season, in a dismal relegation season of complete failure, he's not going to be in the history books for us is he?
Delap.... on 12:47 - May 27 with 1295 views | WestSussexBlue | It’s worked for both parties. He needed first team football at a Premier League club with a respected manager who would help develop him. We needed a striker to lead the line and score us goals to give us a chance back in the top flight. Tick Tick, we make a profit and move on.

We got 8m for Mings in 2015 which is what has been reported we will end up with here.

Reported by who? We paid £15m for Delap with another £5m in performance related clauses. Given he's been here a year and we've been relegated, it's highly unlikely all of those clauses have been triggered. We're looking at likely £12m to £15m profit, with 20% of the profit likely going to City. That's between £9.6m and £12m profit.

Oh Herb, get off that high horse of yours. Its just a turn of phrase. I wasn't expressing any displeasure with the deal. #pedantryisadisease

What a weird response to a perfectly reasonable post. Someone is clearly rather thin skinned.

Only if that was agreed in the original contract with Delap, I would think.
