Jobe Bellingham - Eintracht Frankfurt 09:29 - May 28 with 2678 viewsitfc_bucks

Fully admit that I've not been paying that much attention, but is he that good?

He’s decent, but they’re also betting on his genes / name / nationality making them some serious profit one day. There’s absolutely a tax for that.

There are similarities in his style / attitude to his brother, so no blame for that.

Yep he is pretty good.

For a 19 year old to have that many games under your belt is impressive is well. Will have a good career.

Poll: Will Paul Lambert be Ipswich Town manager on the final day of this season ?

A better player than Jude*

*Well Jude said Jobe is a better player than him.

Someone we should have looked at last summer.

Don't think Sunderland fans would agree

General thoughts seem to be he's good but not that good

Not even their player of the year

In an alternative universe he scores against us 15 minutes into our first game back in the championship. I wonder how the last two years would have panned out if that had gone in rather than being blazed over the bar.

Its quite an achievement to have played 100 times at Championship level by the age of 19 to be fair to him, and to have started so many games this season for a club promoted to the premier league.

Clearly got something about him, but no doubt his value is inflated because of the family name. That can be a blessing and a curse though, people perhaps expect a little too much from him.

Time will tell how good he is but he's certainly got time on his side.

Wasn't happening the same way he isn't staying with Sunderland. Like his brother his career is quite mapped out and him/family/representatives are very switched on and in control.

I thought he was largely anonymous last season, but hadn’t appreciated how young he was. There’s no doubt now he’s starting to look like he could be a bit of a player. It must be so hard to know who’s got what it takes and will develop.

We were extremely lucky to get out of that game with anything but the win appeared to give our players the instant belief that they belonged at that level.
Like you say, Bellingham puts that sitter away and things might have panned out very differently.

That's a bit harsh because before the red card happened, we should have scored another 2 goals, Chaplin came very close to scoring one of the goals of the season shortly after Hirst scored. That would have made it 3-0.

The stuff about him being rated because of his name is nonsense - he's one of the best midfielders in the Championship at 19 and has the physical attributes to go to the top.

True, his name has pros and cons, as by 19 his brother was already an England regular and had starred for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and CL, perhaps if he had any other name people would be more excited about him?

Hmm, not sure I agree

Jack Clarke, for example, was also one of the best midfielders in the championship at the age of 18/19 and got nowhere near as much attention as Jobe gets

Jobe is a good player but he gets talked about as if he's nailed on to have a career at the very top, which I don't think has been justified yet. As I've said previously, Sunderland fans don't even think he's their best midfielder as of yet

Think he gets a bit more stick from some because of his surname.

But whenever I've seen I have always thought he's a real player - he is naturally in the mould of his brother, almost identical playing style.
