What’s your favourite moment of the last 3 seasons? on 12:47 - May 28 by RobTheMonk
Abit niche, but Morsy chasing down from an opposition corner forcing them all the way back to their goalkeeper in the 95th minute when everyone else was out on their feet.
There were lots in the Champ and L1 promotion seasons, but I am going for the last hour before we kicked off this season against Liverpool in August.
I went up to my seat early and sat there, listened to the teams being read out and players warming up - names like Chaplin, Morsy, Luongo being read out followed by Salah, MacAllister, Van Dyke etc.
We were back . . . . albeit briefly it turns out.

So many to choose from but keeping it to a top three, err five:
1. Hirst scoring against Barnsley, 2. Sarmiento, 3. Sometime between the 3rd and 5th goal against Exeter when we all realised that we weren't going to mess it up and were getting a first promotion in 23 years, 4. The bit outside Spurs away when, waiting for a friend to come out, was such a shared experience. Load of people I know well, others I recognise a bit, and total randoms - all just happy and enjoying the moment, 5. Coming out against Liverpool for the first PL game. There were plenty of times in the previous decade when I thought it would never happen again.

Cov away, the day after after. Felixstowe to Ipswich felt like it was in a snow globe of positive optimism, tangible, people just smiled and said hello the following morning. It was beautiful. Jeremy. I was on nights, but what a night, all night after, just reading TWTD and watching the highlights! Broady, oh Broady. Port Vale at home, the equaliser, then, the penalty. A collective intake of breath in the stadium, and then the swoosh of ball in net. We just couldn’t get enough!

Sarmiento’s goal against Soton was a magical moment.
But slightly more magical than the goal itself were the players celebrations especially Conor Chaplin running onto the pitch and earning a yellow card in so doing so. Immense.

Brennar Woolley was on top form too making it magical for those listening elsewhere.
"Strong play from Morsy, spots the ball that the fans wanted him to play; to Leif Davis, wide left.
"Now inside the area, this is Town's chance. He goes square - no! Sarmiento stumbles, then pokes - and scores!
"Oh my goodness me, it's Jeremy Sarmiento with one of the biggest goals for years.
"There's a substitute run the width of the field, I think it's Chaplin.
"There's a huddle of bodies on the far side. The last kick of the game and Ipswich Town have won it, they're going back to the top of the Championship table.

Unrivalled.
Just an immense evening. I think Hirst’s goal doesn’t get the credit it deserves. First of all there’s strength to hold off Matt’s Anderson who was trying to pretty much rugby tackle him (and one of the most highly rated CB’s in the league at the time). Then the way he runs beyond the ball to sell the dummy, making both CBs look like fools, is just sublime. Makes me smile every time I see it. We had some gorgeous team goals that season, but that’s up there with our best solo goal.

The blue army weren’t too bad either!
Im been trying to see if I can find it again but someone posted the Barnsley commentary for that goal which ends with the summariser taking the mick out of their centre half appealing to the ref for a foul saying something like 'leave it out, you're making yourself look even more stupid, he just did you like a kipper'

I’ve not seen that, but would very much like to! The pair were done like kippers. It was great :)

1st game last year away at Sunderland. I realised we were not going to be just there to make up the numbers. Afterwards, following a visit to the pub, I was "Overcome" and tripped in the garden putting my shoulder out. Bl....dy hurt. But I'd do it again in a flash.
