Norwich and Manning 11:32 - Jun 1 with 5715 viewscatch74

Got a little bit about the MM to Hurst appointment. There were a few problems with Hursts appointment, one seemed to be the time it took, think waiting for play offs to be done? Another problem was the fact it was Paul Hurst.
Surely affects the pre-season and possibly player dealings. For the record Manning is clearly no Paul Hurst and a decent appointment for a mid table Championship side.

Norwich will be ok – Manning is highly competent and the people running the place now are serious. Play-off challenge I would have thought, and definitely not one for us to dismiss.

They'll be fighting for sixth, you'd think, along with the usual suspects of Coventry, West Brom and Boro. Top five likely to be a combination of Southampton, Sheff Utd, Wrexham, Birmingham and us. Discounting Leicester for now due to possible points deduction.

Manning did well to get City to the play-offs but a lot of my Bristol City supporting friends were bored by the football they played. Very functional.

I'll give him until Christmas before their fans start moaning about his style of play yhen, maybe sooner.

Surprises me that Liam has moved from BCFC to Norwich other than from a family perspective. I'd have them down as a more likely bet at the moment.

Quite annoyed he's going there as I've always like him and got on with him from when he was in the academy here, same with Chris Hogg, who is always friendly and up for a chat. Can see arguments in the Burley household should Norwich rival us next season! Also Adem Atay's there as well, another who came through the ranks at Town who I know pretty well, and seems Bryan Klug will be joining him. I suppose they're a latter-day Colchester United.

Manning was mentioned by a few as a potential replacement should McKenna move on. He's a solid choice and am a bit surprised that he's moved on from Brizzle City after this season. Obviously his East Anglican heritage has something to do with it.

Hopefully he's going in as an undercover agent for us and will get them relegated. A bit like Liam Gibbs who is doing a great job in sending the Budgies back to mediocrity

Well he got MK Dons relegated when they were title favourites. Hopefully a similar job to follow.

Agree. Surprisingly sensible recruitment (if it happens) by Nodge.

Wonder if Manning will bring any of the players from Bristol with him. Mehmeti and Dickie would be upgrades on what they currently have.

No way they can afford them. Lol

I think it will happen, unfortunately. Has been a bit sidelined here since the takeover.

I can see there being lots of fun in the Burley household if they slide downwards as one might expect with them losing Ronald McDonald and Signs.

So with such a strong Ipswich at scumville now, lends even more evidence to the notion they are trying to emulate us...
Young managers ( last two), American owners, talks about upgrading CR etc ... but it's just at such a tinpot level compared to the Mighty Blues, innit.

They’ve got a bit of a mess to sort out to mount a playoff challenge. Especially if their goal scorers are leaving this summer as expected. They’ve not got a lot of PSR headroom to play with (the sales will help obviously) and still don’t seem ti have a lot to piss in.

I expect them to struggle, but that could change completely if this appointment works out and they can but wisely in the window. You’re only ever a couple of decisions away from a good or bad season in this league.

Mm - not sure that's entirely fair. He got a very unfancied MK Dons side to the playoffs and then the club sold a lot of their best players and he had a bad autumn.

I rate him. Norwich are likely to be stronger for having him I reckon.

Mm not sure that is entirely true. Sold Twine and Darling for combined 5 Mill. Was given funds to replace and bought in utter turd and was sacked.

Think he is massively overrated and anyway, why is there so much love in and care factor about who is Norwich's next manager - not a pop at you, just multiple threads on it, news stories - Looking forward to seeing him flop this year - Hopefully history repeats, they will sell their 2 best players and he will spunk the cash on rubbish again.
