Sadly I have to now conclude that KM will be leaving. Like Silva at Fulham he (or his very active agent) could have easily distanced himself from the Brentford job. In the absence at this point of any such statement it seems apparent that the move will happen and I can only hope it is a quick process which allows Town to appoint, settle, and get stuck into the meat and drink of a huge challenge this summer and next season.
I can’t kid myself that I will be absolutely gutted when KM moves on. He has given us such a fanatic spell and as disappointed as I will be, I will remain grateful for the memories he has given us.
It would have been fantastic to see him have a crack at getting us promoted again next term but he has already turned down great opportunities previously to stay and the only thing that will peeve me a bit will be the public declarations that he was staying which he could have done differently if he was clearly going to be open to Premier League approaches.
I do have every confidence that MA willhave had a watching brief on the managerial market which is very different to the dark days under Evans when we were a knackers yard for journeymen and has-beens.
Managers come and go but we remain and it’s vital that we don’t suffer protracted disruption so that we can collectively come together behind a new man and prepare for a crucial season in the Championship. |  | | |  |

I don't think it's worth worrying about the Brentford role as it's very much up in the air and I doubt KM would be their first choice for a replacement anyway. However, I take your point that constant speculation about him going or staying is not in the best interests of the club. It certainly affected our pre-season preparations last summer IMO. Signings came in late and didn't have a good chance to bed in before the season kicked off. Not sure why this point of view upsets so many. |  |

In short, KM doesn’t have to respond to every article linking him to a particular job - especially so if that particular job isn’t actually available. That would be disrespectful to either clubs as well as to Thomas Frank.
I want KM to stay but if he feels that the time to move on is now then so be it. Good luck to him and thank you for the good times.
Unfortunately, ‘smaller’ clubs are vulnerable to ‘bigger’ clubs - and I using those words in relation to league positions as well as finances.

It's not the constant media/internet/fan speculation which is a practical problem for the club (recruitment, retention, planning), but concrete processes, where the manager's agent and people from other clubs are in active discussions. Swirling, insubstantial rumours are not going to affect people who have lived with that background for all of their working lives.
That did happen last summer (tho I think there were other, bigger reasons for our transfer issues). However, we are not at that position yet, or even that close to it. Thus it is a premature overreaction to bewail the inevitability of McKenna's departure at this stage - and is going to provoke a response from others who want to suppress alarmism before it spreads.
Plus some of the demands people have expressed: "McKenna should publicly and irrevocably commit himself to ITFC now!", "If he won't deny any interest in other jobs, we should get rid immediately!" (I paraphrase) are a bit ridiculous in an employment context for a senior position. |  |

I might be wrong but I'm not sure Brentford are the perfect fit for him as Frank was more a Head Coach with support staff chosen by the club whilst McKenna currently has far more control at Ipswich and gets to choose his own staff.
