Great idea...we can play the themes from "It's a Knockout" and "Jim'll Fix It" at half time and full time too

ITFC ‘Unpopular Opinions’ on 21:59 - Jul 3 with 845 views | Libero | Hold my beer, I think I’ve got this… Other than a Purple patch when he first joined us, David McGoldrick was p1ss poor more often than not. 3-4 goals from open play a season, always injured- yes he could turn on a sixpence, had a great step over on him, a lovely touch and just incredible natural ability all over- but his output was absolute dog water for the majority of his time here, considering the money he was on. He was never the same after Southampton in the cup- they essentially showed the rest of the league how to deal with him effectively, live on the BBC. [Post edited 3 Jul 22:14]

Yep. So many experts on here and Twitter said that wouldn’t or couldn’t work… not like anything else we tried was a success. We were lightweight all season so why not play two big units up top together? Madness we never gave it a chance .

I think we've had this argument before but you are so wrong. The guy was class and wasted by us, funny how after leaving us he managed to stay largely injury free, Sheffield Utd, Derby and Notts County got full seasons our of him because they looked after their players, unlike us under Evans. Also rather than the cup game at Southampton I'd say the injury against Shef Wed when their guy tried to kick his ballbag into the top tier of Churcmans was worse. MMc being a massive apologist for Evans didn't help us either. [Post edited 4 Jul 0:42]

Yes, yes, yes - he was 'class' incredible natural ability, as I said. I'm talking purely about his time at Ipswich. Some blame all the driving he had to do, as he never moved to Suffolk - but that's McGoldrick's choice. Whatever the reasons were - 3/4 goals in open play from one of your top paid players who is a striker just isn't good enough, regardless of the aesthetic beauty of his play. After that Southampton game teams effectively dealt with him, before then he was pinging them in from distance on the regular.

ITFC ‘Unpopular Opinions’ on 06:31 - Jul 4 with 533 views | C_HealyIsAPleasure | Great thread Few from me: 1. The misty-eyed way Bersant Celina is still viewed is bizarre. Yes he scored a great goal once, but overall flattered to deceive which has been the case throughout his entire career. During his last spell here we were statistically a worse team with him in it, under two different managers. That someone genuinely suggested him again as a signing a couple of weeks back blows my mind 2. There is a made-up perception that we will only have good characters at the club. Our captain has some very questionable views, and we willingly signed Brandon Williams after his balloon driving incident (it was only when he started to have personal issues here that he was jettisoned). Keogh another with previous issues. What we do is sign players with the right football attitude to fit in the squad, yet anytime we are linked with anyone with past issues a section of our fanbase insist it must be rubbish as we’d never sign anyone like that 3. Mark Ashton keeping transfers and other club info secret is a myth, largely formed by the first Summer here when everyone’s usual contacts went out the window. Even that Summer a few signings were reported on (including Davis which ran on for a while) and pretty much all have been since then, with quite a few dragged out publicly 4. We are undeniably now run like a professional football club, which is amazing. Unfortunately, we are also run like a professional business, which is probably good for the club but not so good for fans. A number of things have happened in the past couple of years that would have been pilloried in other times but accepted and clapped through thanks to what has happened on the pitch

Cole Skuse was a poor footballer. Couldn’t pass, other than backwards, head, shoot or tackle. In fact I saw him chicken out of more than one challenge. He had no pace and his only assets was to intercept the ball in front of the defence now and again and wave his arms about from time to time. Ok, he was better than Douglas, but given ‘great bloke Duggie’ was one of the worst players I’ve ever seen in a Town shirt, thats not saying much. Skuse, Douglas, Hyam = the midfield from hell.

In the greatest of respects, McKenna was never going to try that. In 2 and a half years previous to that, he never played with 2 up top, so not a cat in hells chance he’d have done it whilst in the Prem.

ITFC ‘Unpopular Opinions’ on 10:00 - Jul 4 with 180 views | LankHenners | The idea that a dedicated 'singing section', whoever organises it or wherever it is situated, is or will ever be a major contributor to the atmosphere inside the stadium is a pipe dream. The massive overriding factor is what's happening on the pitch, same as at every club in the country. It's bad, actually, when the club raise prices for things, flogs a load of tat in the shop, brings out new 'ranges' of training wear or whatever, charges £40 for a membership scheme that only benefits a relatively small amount of the fanbase etc. The guy on the PA is fine, good even, and anyone who thinks Rob Chandler (as great as he was) would be doing it much differently is wrong.
