“Your party” by Corbyn x Sultana anyone going to vote for them? 12:50 - Jul 24 with 4166 viewsMullet

Will watch this with interest, as I think like Reform they will get a disproportionate amount of media attention.

However, I do wonder if MPs who defect should be made to hold an election immediately. If you are voted in as an MP for one party, then seems undemocratic to me to pivot to another party without a mandate.

I wonder if it will be by much though? At most will they be like the Greens with a strong showing in certain urban areas?

Yes, I think the current defection process isn’t democratic. They could have a transfer window too!

Should be remembered that Reform, by taking votes from Conservatives, boosted the results for Labour and even more so LibDems.

Your Party could cause significant damage to Labour.

Clever name ‘your party’ will remind many traditional Labour voters that it is no longer their party.

LibDems are likely to find themselves in a strong position when it comes to forming the next government. King makers in waiting .

Your party is a stupid name.

I mean it's not my party, it's not our party and it's not necessarily your party, but it is still Your Party. Even if it's not your party, it is definitely their party.

I struggle to see how the Greens really fit in, because they are more 'woke' [for want of a better word] than they are seemingly on top of 'green' issues.

I listened to an interview with their leader and none of it was about climate change and the like, it was all about the same sort of left issues that Corbyn/Sultana will be leading on now

I agree with that - they ought to be very heavily focussed on climate change and biodiversity loss, as a rough idea I'd say 80% of their efforts as 'the green party' ought to be on those existentially important topics, but it's probably 20%.

Perhaps Your Party (or whatever it becomes) might correct that imbalance in the Greens, but it may be that that ship has sailed.

I like a lot of the outline intentions of Corbyn and Sultana and hope they can put a pragmatic party together on those lines without getting infiltrated and f'ed up by business-as-usual disruptors. Their ideas are exactly what this f'ed up country needs if implemented efficiently and openly and honestly.

Agreed.

I'm a former Green Party member but left after becoming disillusioned with their priorities and the local party being an absolute shower of sh*te.

Will follow Your Party with interest but I do understand the concern that it may split the Labour vote.

They probably should hold elections, given their principles - maybe they will even?

Part of me welcomes this, even if it might let Reform in: the internal Labour bickering is too much to ignore now - perhaps it time to give (some) people what they want.

I can't agree with this at all. There's too much going on in the world to only talk about the environment. WHat are they supposed to do whilst the other parties and the media are discussion other topics? Not say anything? Seems like a great way to miss out on chances to speak to the electorate and not win their vote. What if they do win a seat or (unrealistically) a majority and thereby we had a green Prime Minister? Those people have to have positions and policies on everything.

Although to play devils advocate, isn’t a lot of that bickering emanating from these two? I quite like ZS but she does sometimes make herself look a bit silly at times (complaining about an already “nationalised” train gave the rags an easy win from memory).

But I’m not sure what they will offer beyond a polar opposite to Reform if they’re not careful. Simply attacking Labour isn’t going to be very productive for everyone in the country. It might make the failed Corbynistas feel better and able to settle scores though.

On a separate note, Labour recently removed the whip from 4 MPs and I wonder if they'll cross to Your Party. This would give them 6 MPs which isn't a bad point to start from.

it's very bad news for the greens. plus they'll mop up most of 'the muslim vote' people. if they can grab george galloway as well it'll be a full house.

I can see Abbott and McDonnell going over. They will already have the 4 MPs that were part of Jezza's little back bench alliance.

It’s pretty clear Abbot is hanging around to cause as much embarrassment to KS as she can, while she has been treated disgracefully by her opponents for a number of years, she’s not helped herself at times.

I wonder if she’s even more “damaged goods” than jezza to the general population, whilst being a boon for their natural supporters.

Well quite. Much like the Tories, the competitively ideological are often the worst for hypocrisy and mental gymnastics. We’ve seen this with Corbyn’s disastrous leadership ushering in the worst years of British government for generations.
