I just don’t see how, firstly can’t see Boro selling to a rival, secondly would be surprised if a prem team didn’t take a chance and finally would be very very expensive you would think.

For all the supposed interest, we are still the only club with a bid on the table - £15m. We might be in the same division, but I also doubt Boro really see us as a rival. We will finish 20 points ahead of them this season regardless. We are operating in a different ball park.

Are we really a rival to Boro though? Without sounding arrogant there’s leagues within leagues isn’t there and parachute clubs, in particular one with our continuity are probably unlikely to be battling it out with them around mid table for a playoff push, which is where they consistently are. If the bid is right and there isn’t a firm offer from the PL you’d expect them to cash in. However, if the Palace and Everton interest is real that would be their preference I suspect. They should be aiming to do a Sunderland and we could be their Sheff Utd in the final. Anybody aiming for promotion will see us as a potential rival and someone to hopefully take points off. Clubs often sell to rivals though when the price is right, lots of changing hands between United - Chelsea - Villa - Arsenal lately, [Post edited 26 Jul 19:01]

That’s cute but they either have to cash in or not I suspect. They’ve been down there for so long they have to sell these kind of players when the money is on the table. If there is a PL bid of course that would be their preference.

Lol cute's a funny word choice. It's sport and Boro are there to compete for promotion, same as Cov, Brum, Wrexham.. these teams aren't aiming to survive or tread water.

You wouldn’t think they are but selling to use would set a terrible vibe for them, clearly given up on automatic promotion before a balls kicked.

Yeah. Appreciate you can't read to much into it. But found it different to his usual distant words think that’s clear, it’s an area where we’ve lost four of the five midfielders from last year for different reasons,” he said. “So, it’s an area we certainly want to add to and hopefully in the not too different future. But, of course, it always has to be the right player.”

Finances dictate when it comes to Championship teams that have been treading water forever. You seem to be forgetting that, using transfers at the top of the PL and Brum/Wrexham are bad examples here. [Post edited 26 Jul 19:10]

Some truth in that from a PR perspective to your fanbase but they’re not the ones controlling the clubs finances. [Post edited 26 Jul 19:15]
