sure i remember kieron dyer scoring a goal after breaking a leg, but this was minutes after, rather than a whole tournament!

must have been a hairline fracture to be possible, but still would have been incredibly painful, massive effort of will to carry on for as long as she managed

Against Watford. Micah Hyde's tackle broke it, scored, then a later tackle misaligned the bone, if I remember rightly. I think Richard Naylor did the same in the Premier League as well.

I do wonder if that was the cause of his later chronic injury problems.

I’m no doctor, physio but maybe something was slightly misaligned and it was never really fixed.

Such a shame, was a fantastic footballer, still the best player to come out of our academy in the last 30 years.

How strange that a post about women’s football was quickly derailed to this unsettling on a completely unrelated topic and then re-railed back to a discussion about the men’s game. Luckily doesn’t happen often.

How was it derailed? Thread about a footballer and other posters compared her injury to an incident involving another footballer.

From memory, so don't quote me I think He broke the fibula, the smaller bone behind the tibia. It is not as load bearing as the bigger tibia at the front of the leg, hence he was not so aware of it at the time.

Great interview with her Mum Diane, maiden name Tough, on Woman’s Hour this morning. She married an Italian iirc; they tend to keep maiden names and double-barrel them with the married one.

Lucy has a degree in sports science, and knew what she was doing playing with that. Apparently she has a high pain threshold - no sh*t Sherlock!

I recall that game, it was against Watford I believe, he didnt look too chuffed after scoring. At half time the PA broadcast "can Keiron Dyer's mum please come to the changing rooms"

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.
