I have full faith in KM & MA to execute the plan but it does worry me that both recent striker targets are last minute hijacks.
We must be someway down our list of targets to be reacting in the way we have or we didn't know they were available until they had interest which is a poor reflection on our scouting network.

Think you’re being quite disingenuous to everyone by using both Gassan and Ahadme in that context.
Both players were bought in to develop in the championship for a couple or so seasons. Promotion and high expectations of automatic promotion simply meant that Gassan couldn’t keep up with such development. Ahadme could still have a part to play this season. |

Of course we don't know everything but the information out there tells us he was due to have a medical at Birmingham today and then we made a late approach. He wouldn't have been booked in for a medical if we were right in the mix would he and there is not much to be gained from a journalist lying about that.
This idea that you can't say anything remotely challenging without having a sarcastic comment directed at you is so tiresome. Disagree by all means but back it up with an opinion, not some half arsed 'must be a new fan' nonsense.

No very different, Man City had a term sheet for a deal regarding Delap. Southampton and Ipswich both met the conditions of the term sheet and Delap discussed with both clubs, choosing ITFC, then proceeding with medical and formalities. That's why there was the whole thing about him visiting the training ground a week before the deal.
Here B'ham supposedly agreed deal with Ajax, Boro then jumped in agreed a deal, he rejected boro and choose B'ham, scheduled the medical and then we made a move this morning.

I agree with Guthers on this - circumstances simply conspired against him. And you cannot use one player, a couple of seasons ago, as evidence of scattergun. Scattergun by definition is multiple shots into thin air hoping to hit one. No one are we doing that. Working down our list of possibles? yes - probably. So if Akpom was on our list as one to go for later and it looks like he's about to be sold to another club, then in the absence of our top target not coming yet then it makes sense to get in before it;s to late. Again, I'm not sure that is scattergun.
But maybe I'm just being picky on pulling you up on the use of that word. If so apologies! |  |

Agreed, but it's also fair to push back against unfounded claims of 'desperation' and 'scattergun'. As others have said, there's a month left of the window so pretty unlikely to be desperation yet. There is probably a very good reason they've jumped in now - maybe we'll hear later. | |

You say losing more players, but, excepting those on the released list, we have still only lost the expected Delap and two who were already not signing new contracts (Burgess and Tuanzebe). |
In the case of the released list, it's worse, because it's self-inflicted. I'm not panicking or throwing stones or anything like that, but we didn't have to release Morsy <for free>, when he had a year left on his contract. His position is one in which we are most obviously short.
We've lost Burgess and Tuanzebe, both a shame, but we've replaced both. It's the bonfire of the midfield without being able to recruit replacements before the start of the season that I find oddest. I would like Humphreys to be good enough, and maybe the silver lining will be that this will allow us to find out that he is. But I still find it extremely odd. |  | | |
