Losing out to teams that aren't even allowed to sign players now.

I'm quite glad we're not getting him, I am no fan of his off field antics and he does seem a good fit from a personality perspective.

.....he strikes me as exactly the type of player/person that should play for Hull.

Meh.

Technically, Hull is one of the rugby league teams, so I make you right.

If we are losing out to a team like Hull that means we were never that serious about him, no great loss at all. We will have better options still on the table albeit a waiting game

Phil mentioned numerous times on a list but no approach made. It's not losing out if you haven't made an offer. Just on a long list and agents putting info out.

Glad we are not getting him. He'd be ok player wise but not personality wise.

Absolutely tosh. No way in this world he would end up at Hull if either Town or Sheffield United wanted him.

A bullet dodge in my humble view.

Yep, things are bad. We could be the surprise relegation strugglers this year. Shocking recruitment - what a mess we're in.

Or something like that!

Rumours are ethereal, and difficult to grasp hold of...

You can't really lose something that there's no really credible evidence that we were in for.

Hope he does well for them against the likes of Southampton and Leicester, or anyone whose shirt is yellow

All things being equal you would certainly think that alright, but the playing circumstances are likely to be very different.
Hirst has taken the #9 shirt here for this season & McKenna has already spoken of how big a season it is going to be for him, so if any conversation with McBurnie did take place, he would have been told that Hirst is his starting centre forward. He will play up front, on his own, in a 4-2-3-1 (ish) formation, & will get somewhere between 65 to 75 minutes in most league match. The role envisaged for McBurnie is in competition with Al Hamadi, or AN Other, as 'the finisher', getting the last 20/25 minutes of games.
Contrast that with Hull, where he will likely be their main man leading the line.

Actually two of the rugby league teams Phil but as a rugby coach I can confirm McBurnie would not survive in our game.

You'd have definitely caught a few more if you'd posted this a few hours earlier. Well played.

There's surely a Dave_U downvote incoming for Jake too.

Less surprising when one looks at the hysterical reactions to any made-up transfer guff on Twitter or Facebook I suppose.
