Health kick 13:38 - Aug 11 with 1066 views | _clive_baker_ | Anyone got any hacks? Particularly savoury snacks. I don't have a sweet tooth but I do like a mid afternoon snack. I've been eating a lot of mushrooms lately (not those ones), fried up with garlic and chili, no need for oil. Need a bit of variety though.
Health kick on 14:48 - Aug 11 with 878 views | WeWereZombies | Chia seeds. They are supposed to be one of those slow release foods that are good for your gut but just form a cloggy mass in your mouth that makes the seven cream crackers challenge seem like drinking yoghurt. They do satisfy the cravings between meals, mainly because they divert your attention to the possibility of choking on a mouthful. So, despite the relatively expensive cost of a pack, will last you months as you only eat a fraction of a handful at any one time.

Health kick on 14:59 - Aug 11 with 821 views | geg1992 | I've been eating a lot of meat and eggs. Boiled eggs are a great snack. Although not great tasting, babybel or little cheese sticks help as a snack too. 5.5 stone down so far, hoping I can lose the remaining 1.5 stone by the end of the year or sooner. If I crave carbs too much, I find making potato wedges in the air fryer with a bit of seasoning great. Potatoes are so filling

Health kick on 15:21 - Aug 11 with 669 views | mutters | Over the summer I've fallen hard for a Mediterranean salad (rocket/ lettuce, onions - both red and spring, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and cheap feta cheese). Splashed with a bit of balsamic and some rock salt. Delicious. Can use low fat feta as I personally can't taste the difference too much

5.5 stone strewth that's incredible. Good on you. If you can do that you can do another 1.5. I'm not necessarily aiming for weight loss per se, although I'm probably 3 or 4 kg heavier than I have been most of my adult life. Its more a bit of toning and mental alertness / energy levels which I notice is directly correlated to my diet. I only eat meat on Wednesday's and Saturdays but eggs are good. With you on carbs, I love pasta and bread far too much.

Tesco does a big bag of mixed unsalted nuts and raisins for about £3. Good for snacking and also helps fill you up so you can get away with smaller meals.

Was going to say this - a single hard-boiled egg with a shake of salt is surprisingly tasty and filling - just had one. I find Burford Browns Very Large, sold by Waitrose, best for size, flavour and ethical production.

Not sure the very large eggs are great for the chickens, maybe if the breed naturally produces them.

Nuts are moreish and highly calorific. Only a good choice if you are confident of just having a small handful.
Health kick on 18:31 - Aug 11 with 70 views | StochesStotasBlewe | Whole meal pitta, couple of laughing cow light triangles, sliced hard boiled egg with sliced salmon. Lost 3.5 stone since new year and now feel like my old self again. Grapes, satsumas, banana, apple etc if you don’t want to have a large ish snack. Brilliant weight loss from the poster. Fantastic
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

This is true but the latest Zoé podcast has Dr Sarah Berry reminding me that ground almonds are even better as they are one of the few processed food that help your gut to get an even release of what is inside, whole almonds are good but 30% of the goodness is likely to escape: https://zoe.com/learn/processed-food-risk-scale-sarah-berry 'So I can give you a really simple example from one of my own studies. If you take whole almonds, for example, nuts, and you grind them down, you change the matrix, you change the structure. By grinding them really finely, you break the cell walls, and it's the cell walls that have quite a rigid structure that encapsulate the nutrients of the nuts. So this means the protein, and the carbohydrate, and the fat from the nuts. So what that means is, if I were to give you a whole almond, the matrix, the structure is intact, and you were to eat that, what would happen is, is that actually a lot of it is resistant to digestion because you are eating it, you're chewing it, you're breaking some of the cells, but actually not many. The point at which you swallow is about a one-millimeter particle, and we know this because we do these unglamorous, chew and spit studies where we actually get people to spit them out, and we measure it with… Well, actually not with a ruler. We use a fancier piece of equipment. But anyway.'

A friend, for some reason, used to enjoy bottles of Kopperberg until she found out that each one contains the equivalent of 14 spoonfuls of sugar.
