Don’t forget to pay ULEZ car charges if driving to Bromley tonight on 13:08 - Aug 12 by southey | It's quite funny watching the pill on here. I'm from this area, and ULEZ is so unpopular that locals around Bromley and Bexley kept cutting down the traffic lights the cameras were attached to. Ask the locals around Hayes West Wickham Biggin Hill etc what they think of Khan and ULEZ, and you'll hear people calling him a lot worse than just a dodgy mayor! I'm not condoning the criminality, of course, but unless you're from here, I doubt you'll understand just how unpopular ULEZ really is. |
Although if you read the thread, you’ll see it was about the OP being clueless that it’s an unpopular thing because of Alexander de Pfeiffel not Sadiq Khan. The old Right wingers on here are consistent at least. Fail after ignorant fail innit

There's people on this thread who also live in London who are in favour of ULEZ. Overall, more Londoners supported than opposed the expansion: https://yougov.co.uk/politics/articles/46024-londoners-split-ulez-expansion

It's very popular in most of London. Probably not so much in outer London but still there are more for it than against it. It's made quite a difference to the air quality where I live, which is on a busy route into London. The people who are cutting down traffic lights are morons and criminals. Also, I'd expect nothing less from the residents of Bromley and Bexley, given their political leanings. [Post edited 12 Aug 13:20]

Don’t forget to pay ULEZ car charges if driving to Bromley tonight on 12:58 - Aug 12 by lowhouseblue | the met infographic can show any crimes, or combination of crimes, you wish to see. use the drop down menu, tick the crimes you're interested in, and the info graphic appears showing those changing over time. you don't care at all about online fraud - fine, don't include and produce an info graphic without it. but surely you know how menus work? |
It's not an infographic, it's a data dashboard. There's a difference. You can post a pic of an infographic on Twitter, a tweet won't support an embedded data dashboard. You're being disingenuous. Again. [Post edited 12 Aug 13:21]

I'd imagine that had Khan binned Johnson's ULEZ scheme when he was elected, the same people would accuse him of not caring about air quality in and around the capital. For some reason there are people that hate him no matter what he does, but I can't think for the life of me the reason why?... [Post edited 12 Aug 13:25]

I might be wrong, but the main opposition to expanding the ULEZ zone were area's that are not part of the tube network and where public transport in general is poor.

jeez. really jeez. use the dash board, select your crimes and time period, produce an infographic of your choice. which infographic you produce and which one you then tweet the pic of is arbitrary. the point is that you can't and aren't providing the dashboard, you are CHOOSING a single, arbitrary snap shot which presumably supports whatever point you're are seeking to make. intelligent people then read what someone tweets critically, including any infographic they choose to include, and realise that it is highly partial and incomplete. but, you know this surely, even you aren't that vacuous. you need to look up 'disingenuous' - it doesn't actually mean disagreeing with herbivore and making herbivore look a twit. It's not very popular amongst working class people across London, ask any Cabbie who cannot afford to a buy new one or white van man what they think of ULEZ and how much it's cost them the hate extends to Boris for bringing it in as well by the way. Interesting how people’s concerns only seem to matter when they align with your own views. Writing off an entire community based on politics says more about your bias than theirs.

The links you've posted only covers 24/25. However the data in the tweet relates to 24/25 Q1 and 25/26 Q1. So he's got some more up to date data For what it's worth, I bet that Sadiq would still pick the best looking stats because the tweet is still a sales pitch. Gaslighting has a higher bar to clear than that though.

A quarter is hardly a reliable crime reporting metric, especially as there’s usually an uptick in summer months. The last annual figures show a material increase, and in fact year on year increase. “Between March 2024 and February 2025, the Metropolitan Police recorded 15,182 incidents of knife crime, up 2.7% on the previous 12 months. The force also recorded 1,958 gun crime offences between March 2024 and February 2025, up 31.9% on the previous 12 months.” I’d suggest 4 annual rises in knife crime followed by a dip in one quarter, is disingenuous reporting at best.

Tradespeople and cabbies earn on average a lot more than I do in the cultural sector and those in what I presume you would call the "middle classes" - so I'm not really sure what your point is. Are you stating that people who drive old and polluting vehicles are upset they need to not polute? Did you also know that pollution is a class issue, as all health inequality is. Poorer and less mobile people are far more impacted by pollution than others.

i joined when you posted "I'm not sure he'd be able to cram stats for every crime into one infographic". i assumed that you were attempting to claim that his tweet was partial only because of the limitations of the infographic. that would indeed be a disingenuous claim. his stat was of course partial because he had chosen and designed it selectively, in terms of time period and crimes included, solely in order to support a partisan point. a different infographic, with the exact same limitations and extracted from the exact same database, would support a different partisan point.

Comparing a period to a similar period in a previous year is perfectly acceptable and pretty common in the analysis of crime data, but I take your point re long term trends. Let's see how the following couple of quarters look.
