BBC News - BBC apologises after Jenrick accused of xenophobia
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c1dxqwkwx5qo
What Jenerick said was wildly xenophobic. How can it not be?
Horrible Farage imitation sh1t

It sounds to me like you are part of the problem.
You should be allowed to talk about an issue without being labelled as racist or xenophobic by those who disagree with you. The words used by Jenrick in no way paint him as xenophobic and it is totally correct that there was an apology.

Having a negative opinion of some people who were born in a different country does not make you xenophobic, not racist.

Maybe, just maybe, you are the bigot? It does seem like you are happy to label others who do not share your views and bigotry can work more than one way.

You can't get much more left wing than the BBC. To accuse them of any right wing bias is laughable.

Pretty much the literal definition of xenophobia mate

"Xenophobia is the fear or dislike of anything that is perceived as being foreign or strange"

Well the left on here claim the Beeb is right wing biased the right say they are leftwing biased , so sounds like the BBc probably have a correct balance.

What nonsense. I should be free to call you xenophobic if you are saying stuff which fits that description.

They are relatively well balanced. Over the years they've given a disproportionate amount of airtime to Farage and his various parties, even when they were pulling 10% of the vote they had representatives on Question Time constantly while other parties with similar or more support weren't represented. On most issues they try to strike a balance, but giving too much oxygen to grifters to try and appear balanced has been a weakness.

in terms of news coverage the bbc tries incredibly hard to be balanced and generally achieves it well. i can't think of another media outlet that takes achieving a fair balance so seriously. it is also responds to criticism and admits when it gets stuff wrong. that's quite brave when it has enemies on all sides.

What is the point in debating with somebody who claims that the near on dictionary definition of xenophobia is not xenophobic? Should people afford the same respect to flat earthers or supporters of David Icke?

Is he happy for his daughters to live next door to people from this country about whom he knows next to nothing? And why his daughters specifically? The intent here is clearly xenophobic and designed to spread fear and hatred of foreigners. At least the apology is drawing attention to his divisive and hate-fuelled comments.
