Wasn’t suggesting as a replacement , more to replace quality with quality Akpom can play the across the front 3 behind Hirst / Azon We still need a quality midfielder

What us the truth then? No I dont want to move to Ipswich seems pretty categoric to me. He only wants a move to a PL club.... any PL.club. So why waste more valuable time on him?

When OH Goes on 21:14 - Aug 14 with 1114 views | DarkBrandon | How? We’ve agreed a fee with Middlesboro. We would have given him a contract offer making him either the best paid player at the club or very close to it. We can’t just rip up our wage structure on one player. And it didn’t seem like money was an issue. Rather he wants to move to the PL. What he will do if the transfer window starts to close and it still doesn’t look likely is anyone’s guess | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Because if he doesn't get the move we are a much more attractive proposition than staying at Boro and another potentially middling season in the champ. We will pay him more, give him more opportunities etc. It would not be surprising to see him here by the end of the window.

When OH Goes on 21:20 - Aug 14 with 1007 views | Bellevue_Blue | I'm fairly sure he didn't want to come because he's a Boro fan and didn't want to play for another champ club. It clearly wasn't about money or his spot in the team. Mckenna is probably the closest manager stylistically to Carrick so he would have been an excellent fit.

We already have four loanees, why would we go up to six when you can only have five in your squad?

Do you know how it was left with Hackney, Kieran knows? I was hoping Ashton said "if you change your mind......." , but it's a lot of money, to leave things up in the air for.

And it looks like boro are close to getting Nypan from city on loan who’s a midfielder. Might be something him coming here eventually.

Nothing has been posted about the exact reason for rejection, a lot of people seem to be interpreting it as a straight no to Ipswich. We don't know that but if it were then of course the club would not go back in. It is more likely it was a no as he wants a PL move so he is giving more time for that offer to come in. Maybe his agent is spinning him lines that one will come. So towards the end of the window if this golden PL contract is not forthcoming, he might be more open to the Ipswich offer as he sees it as a better chance than Boro. We just don't know but the club will and I am sure will act accordingly if HH have no offers or if we haven't already got another CM by then such as a Ruiz.

Not sure about that. If that were the case the club would find that out before making bids and especially chartering flights to get him here especially for more discussions, showing him facilities etc. Kind of suggests he was keen but then a last minute change of heart which could be as he is a Boro fan and didn't want to go or still backed himself he would get a PL offer so wanted to hold out for that. In todays market there seems so many early discussions with agents etc clubs almost get the nod the player will come before they make any bids.
