Other positions we're looking at. Have to be united going into Sunday. Rumours in one direction or another have to be blocked out. Not in the position we want to be squad-wise, so need to be together. Focus here needs to be getting ready for games.

Philogene training, Matusiwa hopefully OK, just a response to the increased load and intensity at Birmingham. All well he'll be OK for Sunday.

Chieo feeling good, thankfully. From a football point of view, would you have wanted him to play both games or have him coming of the bench? Probably not. But he'll feel better for the two games. Steep integration but necessary for the team at the moment.

Frustrating. And shouldn’t pro footballers be pretty much constantly in good shape? Not like the old days.

I think being in shape and game fitness is probably a different thing, with Cajuste I’d risk nothing for obvious reasons but it’s very annoying we wanted players for our own pre season and their still not ready. I said it tongue in cheek about the int break but with two weeks left of this window it’s basically reality at this point!

The Southampton “depth” comment is probably a bit of coded frustration as well lol.

Tough game, all are, in terms of where we are at the moment, not where we want to be. Will be stronger later on in the season. We're going to need togetherness on Sunday.

Jeez, hopefully our squad will be raring to go after the international break! Can’t even get excited about the players we have got over the line yet.

Gotta keep Saints guessing though. One way or the other. I know nothing.

Yeah, for Southampton at least we look very depleted.

The fixture list has been a bit unkind really, just got to get through August with 7-10 points by hook or by crook. Get through the window and in to the international break IMO.

Early days for Southampton under new manager. Played one way for 80 per cent of pre-season then changed for the league game. Can pick certain things from Wrexham, as well as his previous clubs. Early in the season, lots of options, will be trying to find his best team. Have to be focused on bringing the best of ourselves.

It doesn't surprise me. Kieran's words about Philogene last week sounded a lot more positive than after Auxerre.

My thoughts too, as long as we stay in touch I think that’s the best we can hope for and then most players with the club during the international break so KM can work on his patterns with them

Massively unkind. I'd wager we probably have the toughest start of all teams in the division, which is actually harder for a parachute club to deal with than say, a Wrexham or an Oxford, due to transfer window uncertainty.

Yeah, you want these opening 2 in November time really. That said if we can win on Sunday and yield 4 points from those 2 games with the squad as it is it would be very encouraging for the season.

I have no faith in us winning on Sunday. In fact I think we are going to get schooled. Hope I’m wrong but the team just looks way too weak. We are nowhere near the level we need to be. 4 more signings needed at the very least.

But then you could argue Saints have a similarly tough start, playing a newly promoted side and then us as a parachute club.

Saints were all over the shop defensively against Wrexham and were lucky to get the win. Edwards couldn't live with the movement of Kieffer Moore, a man not known for his movement. They looked decent going forward at times but Wrexham were definitely better as an attacking force than they were defensively. We aren't where we want to be, but no reason to think we'll get schooled on Sunday.

He seems to be repeatedly coming back to how not ready we are. Seriously trying to dampen down expectations by the sounds of it. Not really getting excuses in early, as we are short on numbers/fit players, but it’s a bit in that direction. I wonder if the Brum reaction has raised a few eyebrows in the club?

I don't think he's wrong to be fair, I don't see our squad at the moment challenging for the top 2.

Think he's just being honest to be fair. He generally plays it with a straight bat and he's right.

That's my read too.

Plus he's emotionally intelligent enough to know that his words have weight and supporters need to be patient as we work through a tricky period for various reasons.

KM has always been direct, open and eloquent in how he speaks.

KM inevitably conducts himself well in front of the media, speaking clearly & sensibly, but with a certain amount of diplomacy. Something bigger clubs will have noted if they want to recruit him at some stage.
This is a really big season for him - he'd had nothing but success until last season, many would accept that the main issue last season was that the players weren't up to scratch. He is undergoing a painful rebuild & we have the resources available for him to get it right. WE certainly aren't flying at the moment, but this only becomes a problem if we aren't performing well by the end of September, when the new players should be up to speed & either they've been integrated into our system or our system has been tweaked to accomodate them.
