At Luton he was one of their stand out players in an amazing season, he comes here and after 2 games does his ACL, a potentially career ending injury.
He has a year out and when he returns the brain cell deprived among us start slating him, do they not understand he needs games to get back to where he was.
Its frightening to see some of the brain dead on this site.

An absolutely brutal injury for a quick winger, too. In some ways, worse doing your achilles than your ACL.

He'll come good.

I thought he was part of our improved 2nd half on Sunday. Looks like he's bulked up a bit since joining, but if the pace is still there after the injury, he'll take some stopping.

He actually snapped his achilles, which is a brutal injury.

I snapped mine in 2012 and I never played professional football again, admittedly I didn't play it before either, and I was 39 at the time but the point still stands.

In all seriousness I have never played football again, at any level, or done any significant running / impact exercise - I moved onto cycling and occasional swimming.

You’re right. He’s quick, strong, works hard, and obviously has had a long period out, and can’t really be judged until maybe Christmas if we’re honest.

But it depends what you want.

If it’s a goal and creative threat, you’re in for a shock!!

I have a friend who’s a Rotherham season ticket holder and he thinks he’s mid table championship.., he creates very little.., I watched him before his injury against England, and for Luton…, I think he was Ireland’s MOTM against England (very low bar)

He stopped everytime he got in a good position to look up .., like players often do at a very low level and it explained why he’s had a career in the EFL with very few goal contributions.

Sorry.., you’re right, needs time, patience, and support.

After he’s had all that.., he won’t be good enough, in my opinion.

He did well in that Luton side precisely because he’s big, quick, strong.., oh and he can get up and down brilliantly when fit, a work horse.

He still created nothing. Look at his stats.., he never has, anywhere at any level.

A modern athlete for sure.

So the haters probably have it (sadly) and he isn’t a better player for being injured or not being match fit.., that’s not how it works.., the mitigations don’t improve his quality.., sorry, they don’t.

We wouldn’t be bringing in players in that area.., because burns is back later in the year, Johnson can okay there, and so can Clarke and Philogene- that’s FIVE options now.

Clearly KM thinks he messed up.., we don’t need five options, even if two aren’t fully fit, it’s bizarre.

Wouldn’t even be shocked to see him loaned out .., he needs games, lots of them, and he won’t be at the level we need while he gets them .., loan until January and see where he’s at. Back to Luton would suit.

I’d like him to be brilliant too if that helps, it’s just not how anything actually works. Otherwise I’d be number 9 : ))

It is a horrible injury for a professional sportsman. Hopefully he comes back well but it is certainly no given. One of my uncles is a surgeon and hugely into sport and i asked him in general terms about coming back from a snapped achilles and it was interesting what he said about best and worst case scenarios, particularly if a hypothetical athlete relies heavily on pace - hopefully Ogbene with professional level of consultants and physio is in the best case scenario.

He has done nothing wrong. Having a go at him is unfair and daft.

However, we must face the possibility that his brutal injury may have changed him as a player forever, and that he therefore might not be good enough, even if one assumes that he was before.

Very bad injury which set him back. He was the third fastest PL player whilst at Luton and ranked third for successful dribbles behind Eze and Kudus. He has pace etc but lacks an end product a bit like an Irish Frank Nouble . I would sell him to get Egeli!

Haven't seen anyone slate him at all?

Personally, I doubt we'll see the best of him in our system, since we'll face lots of low blocks this season, rendering him almost pointless. If it was a toss-up between selling/keeping Ogbene and buying Egeli, I'd sell Ogbene in a heartbeat.

This is the thing, we saw 2nd half v southampton he could be a danger with balls beyond the defender, can't however see him doing anything other than that

Agreed with op. He was also brilliant for Ireland against England just before he had his injury. Time will see him excel for us.

As a fan base we need a win to lift the mood. Three 1-1 draws has not helped us. Mind you they were 3 tricky games. Easier days are around the corner.

Didn't know people were so that's saddening to read. I recall reading Luton fans' thoughts on the signing at the time and they were very similar to Leicester's today: likeable lad, great attitude, couldn't quite believe the fee they were receiving for him but hey ho, this wasn't in the players' control.

Something I'm sure of is we'll see total commitment from both. If talent doesn't prove enough to help meet our objectives then responsibility for that rests elsewhere, but neither's had close to a good chance to make his pitch just yet. Southampton was Ogbene's third competitive game playing in blue & white.

You can see he's cautious about putting the afterburners on, but he did it once last week.

Chappers' round the corner ball for Ogbene could be iconic this year!

Sorry to hear that bsw, I've just snapped mine at 38, complete rupture, had an op, still hope to get back to some footy in the future, horrendous injury

Is he this weeks scapegoat? As far as I can see all players and recruitment and manager are being slated by people who have either unrealistic expectations after two league games or think they are IT having played football manager

Think he’s a very good option. Better with the ball in front of him so the game style needs to suit him, if it’s open he could be lethal at this level. Probably harder when teams are sitting deep against us.

Possibly but to be honest he's always been a big unit.

He was decent when he came on against Southampton. Was desperate for him to go past his man/take his man on but seemed reluctant. Need the confidence to come back into our widemen and get them running at them and for that cut back we utilised so well in previous seasons

Snapped mine aged 40. Took me a year to get right. Still tend to use my other leg to shift weight on even now, 17 years later. My Mrs says I walk like a penguin since I did it too !
