Yep believe it or not I had the same thought today.
Really prompted by seeing how Preston went straight into that low block and post pen didn't want to play any football at all. It reminded me of the respect afforded to us by do many sides in league one. Except now you've got championship teams doing it. Preston may be middling but they gave us a game last year and aren't mugs.
We didn't play terribly and you can see the potential. It all needs knitting together and that will take time. But when we click will be scary.
Azor is going to be some player.

I don’t mean to sound over the top here and not having a pop at you personally. However, being “happy” with top 6 is a real loser mentality in the parachute era, especially considering who came down with us. |  |

Yes we have played 3 games but we’re not even close to winning games of football.. I don’t see us beating Derby next week, then it sis the international break.
After then pressure will be really on us to get some wins on the board but most of our players will be flying off for intentional duty so still won’t have “time on the grass” with KM and the coaches to implement patterns of play.. I trust KM but I don’t have faith in some of the players who have been recruited on this database.. | | | |

We just lack a bit of momentum.
Couple of new signings and a home win against Derby and the mood will change.
Preston away will be forgotten in a few weeks time.
It's difficult for KM and some of the players, when some players don't even know if they will be here next week.
Once the window closes and KM can work with a more settled squad. We'll see a lot more from those that remain here.

But to flip that on it's head we've had 55+ shots in those 4 games.
That's not a team that is miles off it IMO, that's a team that's just struggling to unpick the lock and create really high quality chances.
Football is not won and lost with stats but we had an XG of 1.39 today, a total that would have been well above a significant number of games that we won in 23/24.
Sometimes it just takes a little bit of time to put it all together. Be patient. | | | |
