How much are we missing Lee Grant? 22:16 - Aug 26 with 1956 viewsringwoodblue

He’s doing a great job at the Terriers so maybe he was more instrumental in our coaching staff than he was given credit for.

Poll: Compared to the 23/24 squad how would you rate the current squad (without Omari)

I doubt there is a direct correlation between the two team’s performances.

As soon as anything isn't going quite so well it was all down to an outstanding first team coach. It's a well told story. It's that or Hladky was World Class.

In all seriousness Grant was a good guy and a good coach. We've still got plenty in the building though and I don't see this as our issue. It really comes down to getting a team out of our players and getting them to gel and build the patterns of play as quickly as possible (maybe he would help but we'll never know).

Like Lee Grant, hope he does well and would be cool to see him here as manager one day if that time ever came.

But I doubt there is any relevance.

Why are people so quick to dismiss the relevance?

Clough without Taylor was never as good, George Burley without Dale Roberts... I'm sure there must be many other examples.

I would ask the same question as to why are people so quick to look for a relevance when there is not way to tell anything statistically yet . . .

I'm sure Paul Cook wouldn't have been quite the same without Deputy Doig.

Lee Grant presumably wanted to challenge himself and good luck yo him. Perhaps he believes in a more flexible approach.

I don't think anyone can reliably quantify that. I've heard very good things about him though and I know McKenna rates him very highly. Getting the #1 gig at Huddersfield was too good an opportunity to ever turn down so not much we could've done about that.

From his time as coach here in the championship, maybe a lot

A very good start, and I hope (and think) he'll go on to have a successful managerial career.

But he has been backed heavily in the transfer market and they were one of the bookies favouites to go up before a ball was kicked.

As i understand it, we've not replaced the role itself have we?

That seems more the issue for me.

Sone Aluko seems to have taken over leading the work with the forwards (it certainly looks like that in the matchday warm ups) with Junior Stanislas in as a new developing coach (as Sone was when he finished playing).

Yes. Dale Roberts. I always think he doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Well, McKenna himself has admitted that our forward play is not working (4 shots on target in 3 league games this season bears witness to that) so you would have to question the input of Aluko & Stanislas.
