Ipswich Town are rivalling Wrexham in the race for Welsh midfielder Jordan James - and both plan talks by the weekend.
Midfielder James can leave French side Rennes in a full deal and is willing to meet both clubs about a transfer.
The Tractor Boys have made contact with Rennes and are keen. Wrexham's bid is still bigger but they hope to talk the player into joining them.
Italian side Parma have been offering a loan to buy arrangement but not the Championship sides are in for a straight cash buy.
James is swayed by Wrexham's story but Ipswich may be a better prospect for this season and beyond. |  |

I'd feel slightly more hopeful if this wasn't Alan Nixon. Is that unfair?
This is where our slow start holds us back slightly. With seven or more points on the board the difference between us and Wrexham would be more stark. | |

i've looked in the efl handbook and it has this:-
"Guidance The definition of an Under 21 Player is a Player under the age of 21 as at the 1 January in the year in which the Season concerned commences (e.g. for Season 2024/25, born on or after 1 January 2003). "
